Another what the college football playoffs should be thread

4 is enough. The only folks wanting 8 are the teams that didn’t win like they should have in the regular season. You want in? Just win.

College football is great because of the hyped regular season matchups. Those who don’t appreciate this and want to keep expanding have no appreciation for the regular season rivalries and matchups. Not to mention amateur athletes playing up to 16 games in a season is too much

Unless you are Alabama and lose to the only team you play with a pulse.

They should take conference champs, then some at large. You can't do this with a simple top 4.

I know this has been talked about a lot but this dude said what I think is the best solution.

Deejay retweeted it so im just passin it on.

I agree with everything he said except having two weeks between quarter final and semi final games.

What do you guys think?

The current playoff system is fine and dandy and all that. There's no need to mess with it and what not. However, what needs fixing is the ' selection process 'and what not. That part of the CFP is just too INCONSISTENT.:puzzled: hUh.

They should get rid of conferences. What good has the ACC ever done us? All it does is forces us to play meaningless against conference opponents that fans don't care about (Virginia, Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Duke...)

Get rid of the conferences and let the NCAA do the scheduling rather than the schools.

Or go to 4 conferences and only take the conference champs.

Miami should join the Big 12 or maybe even the PAC-12. hUh. Simply because there's just too much INGRAINED BIAS towards Miami football in the GOOD OL' BOY, JOHNNY REBEL acc. :canes1:

I am sick of the ACC. There is an obvious bias against us. I think a good first step would be getting rid of conference officials.

Bama deserved to be in. They lost to the best team in the country at the time on the road in a tight game. Flat out dominated every unranked team they played. The 2 good teams they played (MissSt probably being overrated), they won without luck. I’m glad to see them get in as I think they are the only ones that can beat Clemson.

There are so many things wrong with this alone that it almost overshadows you taking some sort of solace in the (erroneous) notion that only Bama can beat Clemson. How was Finebaum's show today? Good? Cool.

Why would any college football and especially Miami fan want Baga to beat Clemson? How many elite high school players that we really wanted left for Clemson vs Baga? Maybe Watkins and that was what 2011? Also, I'm flat sick of Bama being in the playoffs and winning the title over and over. Just like New England, it makes it so boring.
For everyone saying no one over 4 doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs, what if one of those teams, even 8 wins it all? What about Baylor a few years ago or UCF this year? We'll never know.

You mean that team that finished with 3 losses? THAT best team?

Auburn was the best team AT THE TIME. Call me whatever you want, but I was at the ACCCG watching us get throttled by a team that was better coached. Clemson should have never been allowed to win the way they did against Bama either last year because of horrible officiating. I hate everything about Bama and their fans, but to give Clemson a pass like they are some sort of golden child is ridiculous. I can’t stand either one. So I’m for the one that earned it the most over these years and has the best overall squad.

And this flack about rooting for Clemson because of the ACC and we need some variety in champions is garbage. ***** the ACC and their Tobacco Road elitists, we blew our chance to look good when we laid an egg against Clemson. Others, including the canes are surpassing Bama as we speak and Saban is almost done so there will be others. Personally, I wanna see Saban win his 5th so he’ll call it quits sooner

AT THE TIME, eh? That was quite the short window, bro. So short that they were blown out 6 days later. But then again people always strangely have to prop up EVERY team mighty Bama plays. Funny how that works. It'd almost create a situation where there's never a bad loss and mighty Bama has an auto-bid into the Playoff every year. Almost.

It’s all good my man. Bama should start to taper off over the next few years anyways. Go Canes!

It is kind of funny. At the time Auburn was the best team in the country, while several other weeks they were not. I like to judge teams by the season they produce, not how hot they are in a 2 week window. Auburn was far from the best team in the country at season's end. Just like we were. We had our moments, as did Auburn. To me, Alabama never had that moment where they beat a good team convincingly. Not once. I mean if you want to say FSU was actually the #3 team in the country, sure, but they were not. Bama's best win came against a team that lost to Troy. In fact, I'd say Troy looked better against LSU than Bama.
