Another late UM signee could come this week ?

Good thing we dont have any scholarship Reductions, not like we could save a few here and there.

I am not against these choices without scholarship reductions but this is what is puzzling about a few recent additions/decisions.

1. Garret Kidd given a scholarship,
2. Joe Brown OL, and
3. Tyler Grimsley OL (possibly being added)

None of these kids will have any impact on the 2014 season, it just seems weird too me when you could take the reductions now instead.

I like Kidd... He earned his... He may not see many reps but he contributes on special teams as well... As for the other two they are risky takes but you have to trust the coaches... However sometimes you have project the prospect long term... Some players are great high school players but are sub par college prospects... He may be a nasty 240lb lineman on the hs level but how will he handle the added weight? Can he add weight? How many d1 caliber players did he face? These are some considerations that should be taken into account... I'm sure the staff has done this which explains their offers...

I am not against rewarding walkons or taking risks under normal situations. I just find it interesting that we have to take some reductions, why offer these kids now? It's not like we're competing with anyone.

this last kid is only hard to figure out for you b/c he doesn't have the offers. if u went by the film, most of us would be ok with, imo.

One of the best o-line films I have ever seen. Tough, strong and quick and plays with a mean streak, redshirt and add 30 pounds and you have a solid starter. Love this pickup.

You guys do realize that if or when we add him it means one less south florida baller we could go after in 2015, **** if we are looking for a guard offer marcus brown 6'4 334 from naples has no offers but guy is a beast

Not necessarily true. We could eliminate a scholarship somewhere else and free one up. Perhaps Joe Brown is willing to work for his scholarship, if he sucks we could ask him to transfer and have an open ship in 2015.

"Just to recap:

No offers for McKenzie, Dowels, Cerenord, Battle, Wilson, or Flowers.

Two absolute bums and nobodies that will never play a meaningful second here? Full scholarships."

Which one of those play O-line?

I keep seeing this, and it's laughable.

Which one of the guys I listed would get on the field for Miami during their careers?

All of them. Guess who won't? This ******* hayseed we just added. Cool, he "plays" OL, he's awful and won't step foot on the field in any meaningful way. Good thing we passed over actual talented football players that could've helped us win for a bum off the street because hey, after all, he's technically an OL.

I didn't realize that Florida gives all-state accolades to hayseeds. State must be sorry if "awful" players are the best for the year. When our backs have no holes to run through or the QB is on his back in 2 seconds flat, I will look to see how well McKenzie is proctecting the blind side for UGA (assuming he makes it in)

Assuming you are correct in your assesment, how would having any of those guys help fill the need of scout team offense? Given Quincy's reluctance to move to Safety, I highly doubt he would be willing to move to scout team center for the sake of the team. This guy plays with a mean streak, and given his impressive strength #s, must work hard off the field. I thought those were things that were missing from our o-line.

although I still cautiously support Golden, defending these last 2 signings is just dumb.

Don't give a **** about how much they would contribute on the scout team..

I agree A lot of people are trying to sell that we need these 2 pickups for depth.

exactly! We didn't lose games due to lack of OL depth last year, we lost games because we didn't have enough elite talent!(coaching aside)

Garrett Kidd has produced more than Dmauri Jones as a wr..who is on scholarship...and has done more ons pecials than Larry Hope, Nate Dortch, and Juwann Blue...I'm all in on him getting a schoolie for a year...he is a div 1 level wr in my opinion

Apparently Golden didn't think a reduction of 3 scholarships a year for the next 3 years was enough.

I'd lay my ********s on a guillotine with the terms being that Jones has a more productive career at UM than Kidd, and I wouldn't even produce an ounce of sweat.

Mr. Stewart,

I understand what your saying, just questioning the move with scholarship reductions on the table.

If given the options between granting a scholarship to Kidd or taking a reduction. Is Kidd worth a scholarship, maybe.
