Just Fackin Win

Awards will follow in droves if we simply found a way to win all the trap games & be prepared for the 50/50’s

I’m beating a dead horse, but every single year we do a little happy dance & thump our chests. Only to be crushed by mediocrity, with our season fizzling in a meaningless crap bowl.

If we go back to all the “watch list” threads since like 2013, we’ll see plenty of Canes on there, w/ chit to show for it besides our transferred in Kicker.

Lighten up, Francis. Pre-season awards show recruits that Miami has talented players who get noticed by the national media.

If none of the Miami players had been nominated for awards, most of the board would be b!tching that we have terrible player evaluation and development. Then when our players get nominated for pre-awards, the board b!tches endlessly that the awards are meaningless fluff.

Can X player begin a season off a “ watch “ list, & play their way to winning said award ?

I get it. Off Season is brutal & Hope Springs Eternal. If you’re excited, I can’t be mad at you. Get Hyper

Typically no. Preseason hype historically plays a role in post szn awards. Just like the Early ranking matter when it comes to how realistic your shot at a natty is. So yes it does matter. And yes it good that our guys are getting national recognition

What would you suggest? Not publicizing our players being put on a watch list, like every other single team does? Sure. Great idea!

What is the point of these responses?

The guy gets put on a watch list.

Someone from the athletic department tweets it - exactly like they’re supposed to. SOP everywhere.

Also one thing is these lists are longgggg like for the thorpe award I think the watchlist is typically around 50 players. It would be pretty hard to be a DB not ranked in the top FIFTY and have a type of year that gained you the top DB award.

I don't think any of the pre-season awards preclude unlisted players from winning. However, if listed players are on the list but have similar stats to a player who isn't on the list, the chances that the unlisted player will get the nod over the pre-season listed candidates seems rather slim.

No, it’s not that.

It’s we’ve seen the watchlist caused expectations to be unfulfilled yr after yr. So now, we’re like just win the award, pls!
 
Not one to spread rumors... but rumor is our entire Oline is about to be added to the Heisman watch list as well. I think they are waiting till after the first game for some reason.
 
This is Boldens year to prove that those first 4-5 games last year were not a fluke and hes one of the best safeties in the country. I wouldnt bet against him exceeding all expectations and being the best playmaker on our defense.

That's true.... But then if any of our players weren't on any watchlist, ppl would still complain and that would low-key look bad as a team lol but I get it, at the end of the day, we just gotta win it. It just be feeling like ppl here be waiting to just spread a negative tone to every post.

If we road-grade that team from the Yellowhammer State in September, they've got my vote.
