I enjoyed Pete’s contrarian takes until basketball season started. That’s when things seemed to go completely off the rails.
It appeared like he was more excited about us beating some no-name, directional school in hoops than when we made the playoffs in football.
He’s allowed to be a supporter of the basketball program. A lot of people on this board are, including myself, but you got to read the room. People didn’t care about “Jai Lucas era” when we were fighting for dear life to be playoff bound.
Mike and Dmoney were fighting like **** to make the case we belong; meanwhile, Pete was just like “ya, there is no point in advocating for us. If it happens, it happens.”
Like what??
There’s also a difference between not sunshine pumping and being super negative. You can criticize the program — but when it becomes the only thing people remember you for….thats a problem. Pete seemed to enjoy being the villain. It was weird.
I appreciate his work over the years. He did a lot for the site. On the other hand, that statement on Twitter is gross. Super disrespectful to DMoney. There is a right way and wrong way to handle this type of situation. That was clearly the wrong way. He needs to take a step back and evaluate how bad that makes him look.
He’s got a lot of growing up to do. And I say that as someone who is the same age as him. I wish him luck.
