Andy B's 55 yarder

The 55 yard field goal scenario today was wild. For many reasons.

Number 1: why in the **** would we be in that situation? If you're really thinking about kicking a FG on 4th down there, then run the ball on 3rd and 9. At least give the kicker something reasonable and well-placed directionally?

Number 2: Put an 18 year old kicker in the position to save your *** by kicking a 55 yard FG?

And, then the kid hits it. Wow. Congrats, Andres. I hope he sticks with us through the upcoming rollercoaster.

*The bolded was the only positive thought I had during the 15 minute walk back to the Green Lot.
I looked at a friend as we was lining up for the kick and said “do you know how sad this is? We’re putting a true fresh kicker at **** near midfield to kick a 55 yard fg to just keep us in the game“. God this program is pathetic lol.

Look on the bright side, the young Cane did not shrink away from the moment, he crushed and dominated

Do you guys realize how far we've come from the Feagles / Baxta days to these two studs and future NFL specialists.

Watched the warm up before the game. He was making them from the same distance then. Michigan kicker also made kicks from the same distance.

What happened last night was f'd up for many reasons. Even though it was a "30 yarder (NFL kickers miss extra points all the **** time, btw)," I find it equally f'd because, with 2 minutes to go and a defense on its heels, we had options. Disgusting stuff.

Hope Andy bounces back.

He's ruined.

It used to take a year or two for kids to regress completely. Now it takes less than one month.

If he's cut from the same cloth as his brother he'll bounce back. He should have made the kick but I'll bet he's more disappointed in himself than we could imagine.

Growing pains come with playing freshman. Saw it with TVD last night in the first half too. Hope they continue to get PT and develop.

Absolutely disgusting decision to play for the FG instead of punching it in. You could see UVA sucking wind. Just keep your foot on the gas.

Instead, because Manny obviously doesn’t trust HIS defense, he burns the clock and puts all the pressure on a true freshman kicker.

Pathetic job of coaching. It’s pretty much expected at this point. Hope AB keeps his head up.

Manny just can't stop demonstrating his coaching ineptness. Really, for whoever had doubts about him. I mean, forget about recruiting and developing LB's, and other positions and lack of team toughness, accountability and competitiveness. Now game management amateurism is on full display.

Sad part is if Andy had missed the 55yd FG against app state, then this miss against UVA probably would have gotten Manny fired.
