Andrew chatfield offered by UF

So basically a take during the Golden years, but definitely not now. Maybe he could play here, but he isn't the type of kid we are recruiting with this current staff. I watched his hudl just now and not really impressed. Who knows he could be a player down the road, but I can see why Kool doesn't want him.

Like I said..... not offering chatfield is a mistake, because they are playing that angle right now...

I mean, are you new to this? Offering a kid because he is friends with a higher rated prospect is recruiting from a point of weakness. We have one of the best DL coaches in the country and he doesn't like him. Nesta is still committed here regardless. Let them play that angle, we have seen this time and time again, and I'd rather be in our position than UFs.
People on twitter acting like they know he going to flip or something. We will see I guess. I'm one of the most positive people on this board but I'm not going to lie this sh*t concerns me.

You're apparently new to recruiting and twitter. People were saying the same thing about Jon Ford last season - that we should offer the other DE that played for Dillard (and less talented) because UK wanted a package deal.

Why offer Chatfield when Kool's not going to play him?

Question for the film junkies. Who's game does Chatfield closely resemble coming out of high school. I personally trust Kool so I'm not even worried, but just curious. I know people have said he is too small for DE and too slow for LB.

More athletic Trent Harris that has a better get off which is good for us. Harris constantly stays in the backfield

He's not more athletic than Toolbox.

recruiting from a point of weakness? i see it as doing everything we can to get tyson campbell and solidifying Nesta. And if we have one of the best DL coaches then that furthers the point of getting drew and making him a productive player while solidifying those top targets. Im with Brock on this one

And that coach doesn't want to offer him. I'm going to go with the guy who seems to put a 1st rounder in the league every single season.

That's Kentucky vs uf who has several former teammates on the team including his cousin and is an instate school.

It's just logical. Those 2 are close. Sure nesta's mom didn't want him at Ohio state because of Miami advantages(playing time, close to home, we are on the rise) but uf can be a threat because it's not that far, his cousin just signed to play there last year and Schwartz probably committing there and one of his best friends might flip there in chatfield. All I'm saying if you offer chatfield who happens to love miami you can alleviate some of that pressure imo

I don't hate on you as much as most, but dude give it a rest. We all know you think Chatfield should be offered. If Nesta ends up flipping because he wants to play with his friend, we will give you a certificate for being right.

It's like talking to a wall that just doesn't grasp simple concepts. The package deal doesn't work all of the time. Nesta also appears to see the tea leaves and why UF has offered Chatfield - to try and put them in a position to land Nesta and Tyson Campbell. Again, you're looking shook on this board right now.

I guess man, we will see

Miami is by far the best fit for Nesta from every possible perspective. Best DL coach in the country. Best opportunity for early playing time. Best academic situation. Best place to stay focused on the goal and stay out of trouble.

If Nesta wants to play for a far inferior DL coach and DC and turn his back on all the other advantages just to go to school with a few of his buddies then best of luck to him.

Personally, I don't think he flips.

Forget all our home recruiting experts on this board and their film evaluation. Here are three simple facts:

1) Despite production, measurables don't fit what we are looking for...
2) Which means he needed to show he was the exception to the rule, and per Pete, he put on the cleats in front of Kool and didn't come through
3) Other prospects who have shown out and have the measurables remain higher on the board for the time being (despite what HS Chatfield plays for)

Forget chess or checkers, that's tic tac toe

whether chatfield is a better football player than i.e. greg rousseau *right now* is irrelevant. they're not being recruited to play right now.

He's not a scrub. Better player by far than rosseau who has potential but is not a refined football player at the level chatfield is at right now
Brock, the coaches like Rosseau better. They gave Chatfield chances but he couldn't show what they needed to see. That's where it starts and stops. You don't let a kid, any kid, dictate your board to you. That's crazy.

There are players that are close every single year that go to different schools. You know what is logical? For Nesta to go Miami.
It's close to home
He likes and hence why he committed here
Our depth chart is favorable and we need DTs
We have one of the best DL coaches in the nation
An aggressive defensive scheme that will get him noticed.

That logic ***** on everything else. Now if Nesta goes somewhere else, well that sucks and we got outright beat but fvck offering someone the staff doesn't want. We always complain how people down here hold us hostage when we don't offer some local player here. This is a perfect example of stopping that and putting our foot down. Lastly, Chatfield isn't a scrub, but he has not showed out aganst the best in camps this summer. Just because you dominate Dade or Broward doesn't make you an automatic star. Look at McCray, and to lesser extents both Marcus Robinson and Mike Smith. Mike Smith has at least found a home playing LB and being serviceable.

And a "participation trophy" regardless.

Rosseau apparently wasn't all that impressive at paradise either

That's the thing I don't care about getting alcolades for being right. I just want nesta playing for the canes period

Marcus Robinson was a decent pass rusher and effectively executed his role imo

Question for the film junkies. Who's game does Chatfield closely resemble coming out of high school. I personally trust Kool so I'm not even worried, but just curious. I know people have said he is too small for DE and too slow for LB.

It's not about a comparison. He's just not a fit in the defense IMO, He seems like a 3-4 pass rushing specialist while Rousseau is more athletic and can learn to drop back with fluidity to play that viper role.

You don't even see him playing in Trent Harris role?
