Analysis from another coach/coaches

Small meaning not prototypical size. But he knows what we know, if this offense gets it together and takes off WATCH OUT CFB

The first paragraph of the analysis was lazy .. same about the small comment I’m a little lost

It make him look uninformed with the small comment. The only players that are average or can be considered undersized are Jaquan Johnson (All American) & Trajan Bandy.
DTs are small too. How many 300+ DTs do we have. How many LBs over 235 and 6'3. It wasn't a big knock. He said small but he obviously believes they get the job done.

Fair review. Not as deep as other discussions, but we are athletic and do have players who can make plays.

Sounds like a review from anyone on ESPN. He's an opposing coach who watches tape of us anonymously and that's all he came up with?

I think what they mean by small is how most interpret our defense, too: rely on movement and get upfield to disrupt rather than a head up, 3-4 type attack. Depending on the weight gains of Joe Jackson, Garvin and Bethel, our DL is "small" (though wingspan for days) in terms of prototype weight. Willis was 285 last time he played, but is now supposedly 300. If Joe Jackson really is up to 270 and Garvin up to 250, it doesn't really matter either way. They have to move their feet and disrupt. Shaq and MJ are the primary "prototypes" in the traditional "big" sense. Pinckney might play this year at a shade under 220. Jaquan isn't "big." Bandy isn't "big." Redwine has now gained weight, maybe the commentator didn't know that.

All in all, it makes no real difference because our style of play is to use explosiveness and disrupt. Happy about that.

"Scrappy"? We're fcking "scrappy" now?

Scrappy is for high-motor, gym rat type guys who are real students of the game.

Yeah that Duke comment makes no sense. Why even add it? For one thing, lets not forget it was a FRIDAY night road game. And I'm pretty sure we were the only ranked p5 team to go on the road for a Thursday OR Friday night game and win by more than 3 TDs against another team from the p5. Duke made adjustments at the half? They didn't even score in the second half. And the only reason they held us to 3 less points than they did in the first half was because Badgley missed a long FG!

That is the kind of thing that proves writers do not deserve to vote in polls. They do not know anything about the teams they're voting on.

Sadly the fact remains: we've got too much talent to let teams like Dook hang around.

Most national media types aggregate superficial info for their fluff and aren't scouring the camp stats like a fan on this site. Thus, most local fans know more about their team and closest rival than media hacks. We watch videos daily after practice, follow recruiting very closely, and have a better understanding of what our team will look like each season.

We're not small anymore; that's something I've noticed in the fall videos. Our team looks big and functionally strong.

I think people will be in for a surprise when we hit the field 9/2.

If our offense didnt go comatose for 2 full quarters after a hot start, that game is 45 point blowout...

Yup. Conditioning and depth... Bama does what they do because of both.

It's a war of attrition and they generally have more guns than everyone else; but we're coming.
