Amount of progress needed in year 1

Guys, some of you all really are Goldenized. It's just sad.

Florida A&M - Obvious win
FAU - Obvious win
Appy State - They're a good team, but it'd be a big upset if we lost.
GT - This would be an upset if we lost also. They are bad and Richt knows exactly what he's doing here.
FSU - Our first real test. We've lost in the final minute the last two years to them. They return nearly everyone, but that also means they're Oline that competed to be worse than ours returns too. This really depends on how well their QB play is. If it's good, we might lose another heartbreak. If it's not up to par yet, we take the cake.
UNC - Who knows what to expect out of them this year. If they're as good as last year's team then it'll be tough. This also depends on their QB play also. I'm not sold on them yet.
VT - Yea, short week. Guess what, VT also has a short week for this game too. They don't get an advantage there. They are not a talented team and it'd be a small upset if they won this one. Fuente has his work cut out.
ND - Toughest game of the year. If they play to their expectations then we lose. If Brian Kelly fields another inconsistent team then who knows what happens if we're healthy.
Pitt - Should not lose.
UVA - Again, should not lose.
NCST - Tough place to play, we should still pull away in the second half.
Duke - They're returning back to reality and we shouldn't need a miracle to win.

We don't have a tough schedule. At worst we should be 1-3 against VT, FSU, UNC, and ND with us besting VT. I can definitely see us going 2-2 in that stretch with us beating UNC unless they really do build off last year.

There is no reason at all to think a coastal title is a stretch. We can potentially sweep the coastal this year and by playing NCST and not Clemson we can split the cross games. ND won't count as a conference game. The UNC game may be the Coastal Title game much like FSU and Clemson is the Atlantic Title game. If we go 9-3 and lose to UNC, FSU, and ND then I'll probably be fine with it unless we get boat raced in all 3. If we do lose those 3, UNC might take the Coastal then. UNC does have to face FSU this year and I expect them to lose that so that'll help our chances.

So, still, 9-3, 10-2 doesn't look that crazy because of our schedule.

Agreed.

Guys, some of you all really are Goldenized. It's just sad.

What's sad is the same delusional people who have been predicting 10 wins for a decade now.

Same old story.

Last coach was a loser. We'll definitely win 10 games right way now!

We dont have huge wholes left in the roster??? Golden wasnt incompetent bc he couldnt get talent

This is where the delusions usually begin.

The same things were said about Larry Coker and Randy Shannon.

And, no, just because you have guys like Feliciano and Chickillo on your roster who gets drafted doesn't mean you're a particularly talented team.

We dont have huge wholes left in the roster??? Golden wasnt incompetent bc he couldnt get talent, hes incompetent bc he managed to underachieve and fail at an unprecedented level given the amount of talent he had to work with.

We weren't running people off the field with our talent the last 5 years.

It's funny.

When the 2001-02 teams won it was entirely because of how talented the players were.

But we start losing and it's all the coaches fault despite all these people claiming how much talent we had.

I didn't see too many difference makers (especially on defense) the last few years. That's the biggest indictment of Golden, etc.

I love the incoherence being displayed.

Golden was an incompetent loser who left huge holes on the roster and seriously harmed the recruiting efforts in South Florida.

So what should we expect from year 1 under Richt?

10 wins and the ACC Coastal title of course!

hey, I don't know if you knew but we got 8 wins with a ****** coaching staff and we're only losing 5 starters from our roster. We're probably getting Bama transfer Maurice Smith so you can't say "oh our CB depth is horrendous" because the way it looks like none of those JAGS he recruited are going to see the field. Should I turn that into a meaningless statistic so you can understand it??

There's talent on the team but after the first string in most positions the talent drops significantly. No we have not out-talented any team with a pulse for a long time now. Talent can't always shine through a horrific scheme. With coaches now that have legit schemes I suspect we'll see a few guys everyone left for dead start to be contributors.

I'll admit I might be too soft on Richt. If he can't turn us into a 2 loss or less team by year 3, he probably deserves to be fired.

But it's hard to get excited about firing him. Because who would his replacement be? Somebody we considered in 2015?

In 2015 the other main 2 head coaching candidates were men who were mediocre when they were former assistants under Larry Coker. One of the guys got Cam Cameroned out of a previous head coaching job after 1 year because he was so awful. He also could not score a single offensive TD when he had an NFL Pro Bowl lineup competiting against 7-4 BC in 2001. And no the TD that Randy Shannon's defense scored does not count to Chud's credit. The other guy is an TE coach who most Alabama fans desperately want Saban to fire. (Pretty much the only thing Bama fans want Saban to do differently.) Furthermore he went 27-47 in the Sun Belt Conference.

The other people rumored were Tommy Tuberville, Lane Kiffin, Charlie Strong and Greg Schiano. It was almost as if being a godawful coach was a requirement to being considered.

Golden had enough talent on this team to challenge for the ACC... He just was the worst coach in history when it came to everything else.

Yes he missed out and chose not to recruit a lot of recruits that we needed but they wouldve underachieved just as much as the rest who played under Golden... Whats delusional about that point? Its delusional to think this team lacks talent.

Randy Shannon beat a more talented FSU team, with a very young inexperienced team, that lacked depth, with a young QB in Tallahassee.

hey, I don't know if you knew but we got 8 wins with a ****ty coaching staff and we're only losing 5 starters from our roster.

We gave up more points than we scored last year. In other words we overachieved. We won 4 games by one score or less. We won a game on a ridiculous play as time expired.

We were fortunate to be 8-5.

If you think that's a sign that we're going to win 10 games this year then I guess I've proven my point.

Whats delusional about that point? Its delusional to think this team lacks talent.

Saying that Golden was the worst coach ever. I thought that was Coker? Or Shannon?

I keep losing track since each succeeding coach is said to be the worst by our fans.

Cmon Golden has had historically bad losses on his record at UM.... He makes Shannon and Coker look like Nick Saban.

Randy Shannon beat a more talented FSU team

When?

The 2007 and 2009 teams?

The last 3 FSU teams (2013-15) set the school record for most NFL draft picks.

What r u talking about when? FSU was the heavy favorite at home, ppl thought FSU had more talent ... Miami was the underdog with a young team and no depth. Jacory Harris stepped up and beat them as a sophmore regardless.
