I say just an appearance in our 1st ACC title game. By year 2 I'll expect more but year 1 I'll be content with Richt if he does this.

Honestly, anything less than 9 wins and a title game appearance will be disappointing really. The schedule this year is an absolute joke and the stretch of VT, FSU, ND, and UNC is what will determine our record, or what should determine it. We should be 8-0 in the rest of the game. I expect to beat VT. I would like to think we go at least 1-2 against the other 3, but I also feel we have a chance to take 2 of those games.

I realize that puts us at 11 wins and that is high for a year 1 projection, but that isn't your normal 11 win season. If we get to 10 wins or more this year it'll be like Florida's year last year. Impressive, but it looks better than it truly is.

I just believe that if we do any worse than 9-3 then it will be a let down unless we just face a lot of misfortune like a ridiculous injury bug or something else out of our control.

I think the team will play with a chip on their shoulder this year and give FSU and ND a run for their money and depending on how well our line improves and how well FSU's improves as well as how good their new QB is, we have a lot of potential to take that game, especially at home.

I mean right now if we beat FSU or ND it would be an upset win. So if we are being realistic those should be counted as losses. And I guarantee you UNC is going to be tough. And at Vtech on a thursday night with ND the week after is going to be even tougher than UNC. So if we are being very realistic here, 8/9 wins is what we'll get.

I have an honest feeling that we will upset ND, I see us beating FSU over UNC. It'll be an exciting season to see how this all plays out

10 total wins and an ACCCG appearance, or the season is a failure and Richt underachieved.

People act like FSU is Alabama. FSU just got smoked by Houston a few months ago, has no QB and lost to sorry *** GT last year. Folden almost beat those cumburgers.

FSU is loaded again this year, ranked 2nd or 5th by all recruiting services. Notre Dame top ten with game in Chicago..UNC top twenty..Va Tech and Pitts are on the rebound with new coaches...I just hope we don't go backwards from last year...

ACC title game should be the goal every year, but I'd take 11-1 with our sole loss being to a 12-0 NC team and missing the ACC title game over going 7-5 and winning the Coastal. I don't care if we win the Coastal with 7-8 wins. I want to see improvement, and improvement should mean more wins.

along with the overall record ACC ship game expectations...

I expect:
- better entire D tackling
- stopping 3rd down and mid/long yardage as a regular theme for our D
- better special teams overall... big kick/punk returns... big time tackles/fumbles on the D side of ST.... ya know... what we were known for once upon a time.
- more disciplined Oline (offsides, holding)
- better 3rd down and redzone O
- ton less bubble screens, and if you do it, have the right WR and blocker to get the job done.

thread was about progress, i think CMR brings above mentioned aspects, which will equate to high win %

9 wins attainable, 10 wins a stretch this first year. Got to consider injuries suspensions, and the road games.

This. And that 10th can come in the bowl game.

Dumb post. Golden almost beat FSU, multiple times, while they had a transcendent QB among the other elite talent they had. Now they have no QB and a less talented team, but it's an automatic loss?

And is Miami not "on the rebound" with our new coach? Why does VT and Pitt get a "boost" for having new coaches? Why don't you apply the same logic to your own team?

We almost beat the the 2014-2015 FSU, which lost a lot of talent, team that won the NC the year before but all of their games were close. They still went 13-1.
They weren't supposed to have a QB last year and Everett Golson completed over 70% of his passes :monkey-serious: Deondre Francois is supposed to be more talented than him. They lost their top tackler and one of their best DBs but when you recruit at that level, replacing them isn't that difficult.

Their strengths play to our weaknesses. While Kaaya is the best QB they'll face, they have one of the best secondaries in CFB and our receivers are inexperienced outside of Coley. Our shaky OL vs their DL, that just had 32 sacks, doesn't look good neither.

We all should hamper our expectations at least until they play the first four games, or five. The first four will reveal how the team performs against less-talented teams. Physicality, tackling, pass/run blocking, and scheming around our weak secondary during that span should be things we are looking for in order to project wins.

These guys don't understand the enormous importance of a QB in the game of football. A great QB like ours can even the field against a team like FSU that has more talent overall than us but no QB.

A great QB can level the field just like a bad one can. A bad one can bring a team otherwise loaded with talent down a few notches very easily.

There's no excuses for Richt with a Heisman caliber veteran QB and tremendous skill talent and a top DL.

This dude's talking about fcking Pitt and VT. You don't fire your HC and pay Richt $4M to lose to **** talent like Pitt and VT.

You go ahead and hamper your expectations, Najeh. I expect us to beat all the teams we should beat and maybe pull an upset because that's what teams with Heisman level QBs should do.

Holy **** you've been Goldenised.

i think people underestimate the situation richt inherited because unlike golden he doesnt remind us every second of every day. 9-10 wins is what i want. however, we lack the depth to be a perennial bcs playoff team. 17 is a very important class which is why we need to be a 9-10 win team. i really like our 16 class, feel its loaded with talent but we need depth. 17 will provide that, by 18 we should be rocking and rolling and fighting for playoffs every year.

FSU seems to me to be a year away from serious NC contention. They lost a lot of talent after 2014 and it will take till 2017 for them to fully reload.

Clemson is the bigger ACC threat this year. But we aren't playing them again until 2021.
