Miami has had the 11th most players in the NFL, over 200 less than ND and over 100 less than USC and OSU:

But we've scored the 2nd most TDs, only 12 behind ND (plus scoring a TD in 149 consecutive weeks):

1640194957128.webp

We're tied for 4th in HOFers:

1640195043487.webp

And we're 3rd in Pro Bowls:

Truly amazing for a small private school in SFL that didn't become relevant until the early 1980s

Miami has like 3 players eligible for the HOF this year i believe. If all 3 get in (Longshot), they're right behind ND and USC.

I would be interested in the last 10, 20 and 30 years...

I believe we will have 3 or 4 within the next few years...no question The U is All-time
I believe Miami has 7! Sure Fires to make it into the Hall. Frank Gore, Ottis Anderson, Devin Hester, Jeff Feagles, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, and Vince Wilfork.

Solid Pro Careers but unlikely to make it in Bryant McKinnie, Pat O'donnell, Matt Bosher, Jeremy Shockey, Greg Olsen, Jimmy Graham, Willis Mcghee, Clinton Portis and Antrel Rolle.

I think Dre and Reggie Wayne might be waiting a while though. And maybe not at all.

I think Graham and Olsen have a better chance than Feagles or even Hester...unfortunately Hester definitely deserves but the position doesn't get voted in. The same with Feagles.

There's no way Andre Johnson doesn't get in. It's not his fault he didn't have the best team. He did as much as any WR could possibly do in his situation. His numbers dwarf some HOF WRs, who happened to play with HOF QBs. You give Andre Johnson a HOF QB to catch passes from and his numbers are video game like.

Jimmy Graham will eventually make it.

Olsen maybe.

The rest have no shot at all

Good point. Our numbers skyrocketed in those decades.

Interestingly enough, though, on the pre-1980 teams (I go back to watching Miami since I was a young kid in the mid 50s), even our average to bad teams always sent quality players (if not big numbers) to the League. Thinking about the Don Bosseler's, Jim Otto's, Ted Hendricks, Pete Banaszak's, Tony Cline's, Dennis Harrah's, Chuck Foreman's, Eddie Edwards', etc.

Greg and Jimmy are definitely getting into the HOF. Not first ballet but surely.

I think I understand where your doubts might be coming from. Some players found themselves in positions that have no players in the Hall of Fame at this time, no Punters, no Kick & Punt Returners. But Ray Guy, Jeff Feagles and Devin Hester will all be in the Hall of Fame one day, Book It.

And let me just make a case for Ottis really quick. Terrell Davis is in the Hall of Fame. Terrell Davis deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. And Ottis Anderson's career was better overall then that of Davis's.

Ottis was a straight up monster, he is 1 of 31 players to have rushed for 10,000 yards or more in the history of the NFL. Dude ended his career with 10,273 rushing yards with 81 TDs. This was over a 14-year NFL career, you can add to that his 3,062 receiving yards. Anderson is a two-time Super Bowl champion, something many of the Hall of Fame tailbacks cannot say themselves. He scored a touchdown in the Giants’ Super Bowl XXI victory over Denver then repeated that act four years later against Buffalo. Ottis is the AZ Cardinals all-time leading rusher. He was also the NFL Rookie of the Year with them in 1979. A decade later Ottis was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year with the Giants. Fun fact about Anderson is that he fumbled the ball only three times from 1987-1992. He was the MVP of Super Bowl XXV.

To quote Anderson "One day they’ll figure it out"

If Terrell Davis made the Hall then Ottis Anderson, one day, will too.

I don’t think Reggie gets in because of inflated stats due to Manning, very similar arc as Torry Holt.

Dre is opposite, he should get in because he never played with an elite QB

I think we’re propping up Canes here a bit much, does Olsen roll of your tongue as HOF? If the answer is No then the guy surely isn’t a HOFer. **** isn’t Zach Thomas still waiting to get in?

I don’t think Jimmy is getting in. It’ll be close, but the TE position is hella scrutinized, and he most likely won’t hit 10k receiving. Unfortunately, he’s playing in an era w/ Gronk, Kittle & Kelce, which has redefined the position. If he stayed w/ N.O, he would be in.

I think Hester, Wayne, AJ, Gore, & Wilfork all eventually get in. They’ve been talking about Hester breaking in as a specialist b/c he changed the rules to defend against him.

I really think all 5 will make it but maybe only 4/5 make it. They will give us one of either of wilfork or hester being the best ever at their positions but not both

Yeah, I’m iffy on Big Vince, again b/c DT/NT positions r heavily scrutinized. I have serious issues w/ both NFL & MLB voting. It’s hella archaic

I hear you. I would argue that JG and Gronk redefined it and then Kittle/Kelce took it a bit further. But yeah agree overall

If I’m a voter, I would vote Graham in. He was considered the best or top 3 at his position for an 8 yr stretch. I would also take into consideration how injuries derailed his production. He wouldn’t be 1st ballot, but I would put him eventually. He was a FFB gem, too. But again, they scrutinize certain positions so critically as opposed to others.

Also, OT but on-topic; it’s criminal that two guys who redefined the RB position, Roger Craig & Chuck Foreman are not in the Hall. I’m a Bears fan, but if u put Sayers in based upon “potential despite short career” & Terrell Davis in, u have to put Craig & Foreman in. Jmo
