CB1: Michael Jackson
CB2: Sheldrick redwine
Nickel: Trajan Bandy
Free Saftey: Jaquan
Strong: Amari Carter
MLB: Pinkney
WLB: Derrick Smith

DE: Patchan
DE: Garvin
NT: Willis
DT: Joe Jackson (assuming he can gain 10-15 pounds)

Now, this defense could get it's *** busted against the run, but the speed + tackling combination at every position is the best I can think of. Pinkney, who has amazing timing, would be shooting gaps like he has been for 2 years. Derrick smith would be your run/hit specialist who can hold his own in coverage. Also, I know it's crazy to put Joe jackson at RJ McIntosh's position, but I think he could actually play that position and could be a nightmare against a pooty guard. With the QB easily contained on the ends with Patchan and Garvin, either Joe Jackson or Willis would get a 1 on 1. Good luck running sideways, and pray for any QB who can't hit a WR off press coverage.

Your idea of the perfect base defense?

I like out of the box thinking. Too many automatons on here can't think creatively.

Personally i think a 5-1-5 would be an even better fit.

Viper - Pinckney, McCloud, Joyner
DT - Willis, Bethel, Silvera, Martin
NT - Ford, Odenigbo, Miller
DT - D Jackson, Garvin, Martin
Elephant - J Jackson, Patchan, Rousseau

LB - Shaq, Steed, Jennings, M Smith

CB - Jackson, Dean, Bethel
Rover - Smith, Wilder, Finley
FS - Redwine, Hall, Blades
Rover - J Johnson, Carter
CB - Bandy, Frierson, Ivey

This would just be the base defense. The beauty of this defense is the flexibility. The rovers can both come into the box to give us 8 men to stop run heavy offense and to cover slants and curls around the hash marks. The 5 DL can provide a crazy pass rush against pass heavy offenses. And we won't need to recruit giant 2 gap nose guards that are few and far between in FL because with 5 DL, the OL can't double team anyone without help. Instead, this plays to the Florida recruiting grounds that are chock full of 260lb type DT/DE tweeners.

The DEs in this scheme can all be used flexibly as well - perfect for DE/OLB tweeners that are also everywhere in Florida. I have two standard DEs in the Elephant role on the DL now, but eventually, that position will mirror the Viper and will contain the Brooks and Rousseaus of the world.

I would bump it. We have the Athletes.

Take Shaq off the field? Makes perfect sense, I can't see how this could go wrong.
