In 9 years as a head coach I am just about certain that he has never fired an assistant. He has not done it in 4 years at Miami. Jethro franklin, Paul Williams and Doritos have been with him the whole time. Let that sink in. Good assistants are plucked left and right. Why do these guys stick around. How does Al not see this? Does Al really think he is batting a thousand w his hires?

. That is the most indicting data against him. It shows he is arrogant, loyal to a fault and lacks the killer instinct needed to win. His defensive coaches are not driven because they know they are safe with him.

It is arrogance. And it stems, in part, from his belief that he is completely secure in his job. With that extension and the transition going on at the top, he knows he's not getting fired this year. So no need for scapegoats (other than his players) just yet.
