One of the unfortunate ramifications of this result is that challenging OOC games are going to rapidly become extinct. There is zero incentive to play them.

I mean Indiana went undefeated in part because they only played G5s and an FCS OOC in the regular season

I liked beating the **** out of the gaytors and notre dame, and I’m glad we played them. But that’s because I’m a fan of football games, and I enjoy a win in the season all the same as a win in the playoff.
You’re right though the push to make everything about winning a natty, encourages a safe easy schedule in the season.
