Alonzo-Romberg

Very simple Zo gave us what his role is going to be. Advise the HC with talent evaluations and relationships in the communtiy. The big time schools have someone in This capacity. Call it a GM or Director or player development. Which is basically what Zo has done his entire career. He knows how to evaluate Talent. Manny will listen to him this year.
That’s the plan this upcoming year.

Romberg is bad - but not nearly as bad as Amber Wilson, who thinks shouting “yo!” at beginning of the show everyday makes her cool. She’s unbearable.

Worst radio personality I’ve heard in my 20+ years in SFL. Never thought someone would surpass Joy Taylor’s annoying voice and cackle laugh, but Amber’s has done it by a mile.

Ha. I totally misread that as you asking me if it's my first time on this board. I was like "eh, I really don't listen to this guy and was just asking what he does." Because it's incredible how almost everyone agrees how he sucks, as you said. So basically he must be TRULY bad right now.

How is it nothing....he's hired isnt that what we been looking f4 clarity on if he is hired?
 
Based on his brief interview with BR, Zo is basically saying this position, as he understands it and based on what his friends that have worked in the League and are now in similar positions in the college ranks, would be "the eyes and ears of the HC"....watching/evaluating practice and talent. He basically compared it to a GM on a NFL team. "You're able to look at things from a different perspective than the HC".. Question is where does the buck stop, I'm sure. Zo isn't coming across as a "my way or the highway" type, although I'm sure he'll at some point cross swords with the HC. It's inevitable especially once adversity strikes. He did also say "I don't thing anyone is going to be successful without talent. that's the bottom line".

So if we do not have a keen eye for talent (eg. Butch back in the day), then we're not going to get this thing back on track any time soon.
That's pretty much common sense, I know...but we've been lacking this kind of scrutiny.

Romberg legit never asked him a single question about him potentially coming down here.

If you're going to hire somebody into a position that basically strips the HC of his responsibilities, then just fire the coach. I doubt Highsmith expects that he'll run the program Sunday through Friday, but he also knows his value is greater than just being a ceremonial relic to our past with a purely adminstrative position as Blake James first suggested.

Nah I always liked Joy! Yeah she had a mildly annoying voice but she was pretty competent and funny. Amber on the other hand is absolutely horrible -- made me completely stop listening to that show.
