So explain to me, what does a football GM do at the college level since noone else really does this? I kinda feel like everyone is reaching on all of these positions to have former players involved in the program. It's like Ed Reed's chief of staff job. WTF has he actually done?
Other teams do have a position similar to a GM of football. It maybe called something different but I know FSU has one, it’s not a big name guy doing it. I would rather have someone like Zo just focus on football and not do anything related to any other sport.

Ed Reed was a cake job and that’s how it was since day 1. He’s not even around 70% of the time. It was to make the fans shut up.

The joke in the Hecht is Ed Reed is never around, but that’s what was agreed on when he signed up.

Todd Stroud was going to be that guy until he got thrown into a coaching role.

Problem with Manny is he doesn’t want the help and the folks they’ve hired have no power over him, so Miami has made it a wasted position and title.

That's like an off-season Jacurri Brown >> Van Dyke thread.

Oh we're totally going to get those this spring? Carry on..

As I have said in a few other threads, Zo might be a good AD. The problem is his time will be split as AD opposed to being focused on football. I much rather have 100% of Zo's time than 10% of Zo's time.

Didn’t say he was. As a Sr Executive of okayed personnel and VP, he had similar functions. Bottom line is he is an executive and not just a mere scout.
He was a senior scout. The term personnel executive doesn't mean much in terms of organizational leadership. If he was qualified to be an AD he'd have a job like that already.
