The most successful leaders always surround themselves with the best and most talented people. It makes everyone better! This a major win for this program.

Mario is in complete control and continues to build a solid foundation for this program going forward; block by block, piece by piece.

Truly energized to watch all this hard work translate into wins on the field and to see these kids thrive, fulfill their dreams, and succeed at life!

It's Great to be a Miami Hurricane

Mainly scout. He's essentially the head of the recruiting dept with a day to day that includes oversight and development. But that's just my guess. What do I know.

Don't be modest. You were a part of the informed group that was saying this six months ago, when know-nothings were fighting us over the lack of media reports and personnel org charts...

Call me out on my bull**** but I'd love to see Zo (Will he have any direct reports? The recruiting staff?) handle a majority of scouting under the direction of Mario and staff on what they are looking for talent/scheme wise. Scour tapes, build relationships with HS coaches and present guys to the staff for the ultimate OK and let the recruiters croot. Surely the coaches will scout and review tapes but if Zo's role can provide some relief from that aspect of college coaching and ultimately result in more time the coaches can focus on the team/game planning etc I think that's a huge win.

I'm just pumped

Now that he's officially official, I guess I can relate this story from the past season...

After the Mich St loss, I started hearing from people that were pretty significant boosters, long-time season ticket holders (who had up to like 8 seats per game) etc, were telling me that they were no longer even going to home games. That they wouldn't be going for awhile. And these were die-hards who didn't miss games for years, and traveled to a lot of road games.

I saw some tweets expressing the same thing

I DM'd Alonzo about this, and his response was, "This is alarming, I'd like to talk to these people." He was serious. And he actually wanted to give his thoughts on Miami and what he had seen throughout the country at other programs.

So a special Zoom conference call was organized (and some on this board were on this call) and guess what, for over an hour he held court. There was no doubt he wanted to help rebuild this thing. Mr Highsmith has a real plan and vision. He isn't here to just be a figurehead, or occupy an office. This is not his job, but a passion. Or a vocation as Mario Cristobal would say.

One thing he said that really stood out to me was that, "Every booster counts, doesn't matter if you're at the very top, a Golden Cane, or just a guy who gives a hundred dollars -- you guys ALL matter." Alonzo, beyond the football aspect has an acute understanding that UM had lost the community to a certain degree. Part of his aim it get back to the grassroots in the Dade County area and beyond.

Im very excited about this move and extremely happy for Alonzo.

God bless you sir. I was on that call, and I'm grateful and honored you gave me a chance to do my small part to help make things happen.

Please give Alonzo my congratulations, and tell him I'm NOT the guy who introduced himself six times.

"Miami is a Nike school."

Gaytors have "Billy's Army".

We have an Alonzo.

Why do people have to keep sucking this Buckeye's ****? The words were all Vilma's.

Yes but Herbie didn’t have to do it. He could have said no. Crown that guy, too. Vilma may have been the mastermind but no one else’s words would have impacted like Herbstreit did.

I'm tired of this line of rationalization too. "Herbie didn't have to do it. He could have said no.".

No. He's paid to comment. He's paid to say things. Vilma gave him the script and he read the words. Let's not pretend like everyone on a sports show comes up with every idea on his/her own and writes every word of the copy.

We can be grateful to Herbstreit without jizzing all over ourselves and promising to name our first-born masculine children after him. We don't need Miami fans running around talking about putting a statue of Kirk next to the U on campus.

Enough already.

Kirk...thank you for your service. Thoughts and prayers. Blessings.

Now, can we stop the Herbstreit ****-jobs already?
