Gino as an AD is sn absolute joke, look at my prior post.Perhaps, but there's smoke there from other sources.

This has happened before and it’s not a big secret, people at Miami reach out to former players for advice and so forth. Does not mean that they’re going to get hired and that was never the point. If Gino gets hired as AD I can guarantee I’ll be raising some ****. That’s total Mickey Mouse bullshlt to hire someone with no experience in the slightest at all.
I’m with you. You all think Gino can pick our next basketball coach? Lols.
Running a collegiate athletic department is different than running a media company. It's different than being a NFL personnel guy. Get me someone that has done it, that understands the challenges. Tom Jurich is sitting out there, same with a fallen star like Jeff Long. Get one of those guys. Stop jerking off over inexperienced, unqualified former letterwinners. This hire is extremely important, don't leave it to chance. He is CEO and Founder of Touchdown Radio which broadcasts games nationally and a commentator on College Sports Nation on Sirius Satellite Radio. He is still very much involved in the sports scene.
Why not? A lot of this imo is not about what you know, it's who you know. If you know people whose knowledge and expertise in certain areas you trust you can make those decisions in areas not in your wheel house.

Lol relax… that’s not my recommendation.Gino has a lot of A.D. experience doesn’t he? Or football administration experience? Or other sports experience? Yeah he’s perfect. Jesus Christ where do you people come up with this shlt

I see your point clearly. The thing to remember is that Gino has massive connections. With Zo having full control of football, I think it would be fine. Both have executive experience, both could raise funds better than the current guy and Zo knows football from all sides.Gino as an AD is sn absolute joke, look at my prior post.

I'm not endorsing Gino as AD, but if it happens with Zo in charge of football, I think it could work.
Torretta has long worked as a color commentator for collegiate and professional football games, and is currently a host on the South Eastern College Football Today Show on CSS. Among his charitable works, he hosts the Gino Torretta Celebrity Blue Tee Weekend benefiting The Torretta Foundation, which aims to find a cure for ALS and Myasthenia Gravis.I don’t think there’s anything that would reassure me that they can raise funds. I don’t think either one of them has experience with that either. Blake, as a matter of fact, probably the one thing he can do is raise some funds, I’m not saying he’s great at it, but he’s probably better at it at least in terms of results than either Gino or Alonso. And I want Blake gone.

He is also a Past-President of the National University of Miami Alumni Association, a member of the Orange Bowl Committee, and in 2008 was inducted into the University of Miami’s Ring of Honor.

Gino Torretta - Heisman
Torretta became the second Miami quarterback to win the Heisman while leading his team to an undefeated regular season. The 6-3, 205-pounder was one of the most celebrated athletes in Hurricane history. Torretta was born in Pinole, Calif., and starred for the Pinole High football team as a...www.heisman.com

I agree with you 100%. There is a second in command out there who would be perfect. What I'm saying is that if it does happen, it wouldn't be a Lynn Swann situation. That’s all nice. It doesn’t allay my concern over lack of relevant experience.
Those are all beautiful things to put on a résumé or CV, in addition to relevant experience. It would put a candidate over the top. Unfortunately the foundation, id est, college AD experience is not there.
We need to be doing a search for someone that has athletic administrative experience in a P5 university either as the Director or as an assistant/associate who has spearheaded important projects and has a track record of success. If someone is particularly outstanding it would be OK if they came from a G5 school as long as the university experience translates to the types of issues that Miami has.
I guarantee you there are a lot of people that are not athletic directors right now, but who are in athletic departments throughout the country, who are grooming themselves for that next step to be athletic directors. That’s another pool of candidates we need to look at.

I’m Leary of hiring former players… seems like an easy way for an admin to satisfy a ****ed off fan base.I like it. I uses their skill sets perfectly.
Gino very successful in running a business. Skill fits for AD
Zo very successful in NFL front office career. Skill fits for Football admin.
Gino is light years ahead of Swann. I doubt we'd see such a thing, especially if Zo is in the building.A Lynn Swann situation is exactly my fear.
