What a cluster F and total fall back. So much for the $20-30M going into the program. I love these guys as a fan of 45 years. Love them both. But WTF credentials do they have? Don't give me NFL front office. That has nothing to do with being a big time AD at a major program. Please tell me you have something more????!!!!

Hopefully it is just misdirection. A lot of stuff we are hearing doesn't make sense.

We were told they wanted a proven AD. Zo and Gino and Cuban Peter Griffin and New Mexico aren't that.

We were told many isn't an issue anymore, yet Mario may cost too much so they'll just buy Diaz some new coordinators and remain cheap overall.

We all know reporters are fed bad info all of the time. I hope that's what is going on now because if not, this place is even more dysfunctional than we thought.

As has been discussed, I could get behind Alonzo in a football only role as the heir apparent for the AD role, but it does seem premature to have him as the AD. At least he does have some experience in an executive role for sports; Gino shouldn't be anywhere near the AD position.

Agreed. Doesn't work for me. This thing about knowing the Miami culture is bs. JJ lived and coached far away before coming to Miami.

Just hire the best. The rest will fall into place

You're going to have an aneurism over something you don't even know to be true. Have a beer.

They’re going to hire Nuñez and then try to appease the fan base by appointing Zo or Gino as “Head of football Operations” when in reality they won’t have any real say. They did the same to Ed Reed, which is shameful in itself.

This all because the University of Miami is corrupt. And they need to have someone they can control in charge of the athletic department.

More like a shot of brown water! I'm ok, just had a moment. USC is a also a private school in the city similar to our very own.. They were able to the pull the biggest coach outside of Saban.

If you research Highsmith's executive career and his messaging, there is no reason to believe he can't be a great comprehensive AD. I think he has the makings of it.

However, an important point has been made again and again that only he can answer... does he want to be a comprehensive AD?

Go listen to Zo’s interview on the OBB. It’ll give you a lot of peace. Miami is different and he can win here. He can bring Mario and give him what he needs.

Listening to latest Through the Smoke podcasts…. Lake has been pretty accurate reporting IMO. It seems Zo/Mario are actually very close. His “speculation” is the reason Manny hasn’t been fired is because then people would ask Mario about Miami opening during press leading up to his Pac 12 championship game. If Zo is indeed the AD, it’s already been reported that Mario is his number 1 choice so more questions would arise. I think it can really be Mario/Zo announced Saturday/Sunday.

People complain about Mario coaching but he’s an immediate upgrade and if some kids don’t sign early he would have a good shot of really saving this class. Little Jr, Blissainthe, Shemar, Kelley, Jones Jr (who was apparently silent commit to OU)

Did I miss something? Was there an announcement?
