Alonzo and Eric Winston and wtf? Zo is from Canada?

I was at Columbus my junior year in 1981 when word started spreading around that there was some stud player that was going to come to school the following year

We were all like, “ a stud from Canada?!!”

Anyway, he shows up my senior year and the guy was just dominating. But he was a DL and he was unblockable.

We all assumed he was going to be the next LT, who was just starting out in the NFL.

To this day many still say that Schnellenberger messed up by switching him to RB because he was special and pure nasty on D.

Was at Columbus with Zo -- kid was tough as a DL but not big enough to play DL in College
- He was LISTED at 6'1 - closer to 5"11 ....maybe 6

I am thinking closer to 6-1 but who knows. His money position would have been OLB.

Jimmy said he would have played him at DE in his 4-3 had he not already been switched to offense. Don't forget that when he signed with UM Schnelly was the coach and we still played a 5-2 with standup DE's which were similar to LBs. He probably would have been a standup DE had not Schnellenberger screwed up his career by using him on offense.
