All the optimism

Miami can’t be selected for the Pop Tarts Bowl two years in a row. Will be the Gator Bowl or less likely the Holiday Bowl this year.

I’m trying to remain optimistic, but it was obvious when the committee bizarrely moved Alabama ahead of Notre Dame after struggling to beat a 5 win team that it was to give the cover to move Bama back between ND and Miami and use their new made criteria about teams needing to be side by side to consider head to head.

**** off. I'm curious, what do you get out of this stupid crap? If Miami isn't selected, are you looking forward to saying "I told you so"? WTF do our "Fans" get out of rooting against the best interests of the program? We don't know what will happen, but Miami has a case as strong as anyone's, we have to hope it carries over. Period.
Hope died when the caveman was bent over by an SMU team we were double digest favorites to throttle. It’s not the committees fault, it’s all ours.

Do you believe in negative energy and astrology?

Did you prefer it when Bama & UGA were hoarding the top talent for well over a decade? When a team like Indiana would have never had a chance to beat OSU for the B1G title? When we would have been rolling out Emory Williams the last couple of years instead of Cam & Beck? Or was it when computers determined the 2 teams playing for the BCS title? At no point in any other system used before the playoff would we have even had a realistic chance to play for the title after losing 2 games. Genuinely curious what you think sucks so much about CFB today compared to the last 20 years.
You're making plenty of assumptions as to what was and what was not able to be accomplished over the past 20 years, I mean, I can remember unknown programs Boise State beating Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl or UCF beating Auburn in a New Year's 6 bowl. That being said, we can look at the realities of today's college football:

- transfer portal with no limitations. Athletes playing for more than 2 schools in a college career is just ridiculous.

- power consolidated into 2 conferences.

- up to 25% of each team doesn't play in non-playoff bowl games. Great, a super early spring game that fans get to pay bowl game prices to attend. You'd think with players getting paid nowadays, the contracts would include participation in bowl games.

- after all these years, still having a system which is more subjective than objective in determining who gets to advance

- to be fair to the committee, it is hard to be objective when each team plays varying numbers of home games each year and plays varying numbers of P4 opponents as well. If you have a playoff, standardize the regular season to make more objective choices.

- greed leading to massive conference realignment. Has lead to elimination of rivalry games, the extinction of the PAC12 for all intents and purposes, less regional conferences which hurts Olympic sports and increases travel for teams, larger conferences which make it more difficult to determine a true conference champ as most teams do not play others in their own conference each year, etc.

- coaches leaving programs on the cusp of playing in the playoff. Shots at a title are rare, but a bigger fish nabs your coach in the middle of a possible title run? Sucks for them.
