Hey everyone - I'm looking to do my first ever all-inclusive resort vacation, and I'm looking specifically at the Dominican Republic as the destination.

I wanted to get some feedback on places there that some of you may have been to, and things about the DR even if you weren't there for an all-inclusive that I should know/go do/be wary of. I've done some research already and I'm working with a travel agent, but wanted to lean on some of the knowledge here since we have people from all over that have likely been there.

We used the RIO brand.. Great place... pool was small compared to the pool in Mexico.

Excellence Punta Cana.

Granted we went back in 2021 when it was at 60% capacity. But best vacation we have taken IMO. Drinks are great. Food is solid - the hibachi restaurant is great and the steakhouse is good, the rest of the food is average but there's a good variety.

Pool is huge and relaxing. Beach is huge. It is on the edge of the atlantic and Caribbean so you get rougher waters but I enjoy that anyway. A lot of people complain about it though.

I appreciate the feedback guys - I ended up going with Secrets Royal Beach. Wanted Adults Only, but the option to hop over to Dreams and be around more people if I wanted. After all the reviews I read, it seemed like the best option for me. I'll report back my feedback after my trip next month.
