Alfonso Hampton#1 Juco DT

You won't get an accurate answer, just some possibilities.

1. Maybe we have other kids in line,

2. Maybe no interest in us or we have no interest in him,

3. Maybe grades suck, and

4. Maybe the sites value him more then the programs do

Said Miami, FSU and Oregon among other schools have called about him asking for his tape. 2013 tape is not out yet.

I read that this is is 1st or 2nd year playing dt ever so I guess schools have to really look at his tape or practice just like UM did with DJ

Hard to believe that the #1 juco, at the greatest position of need in college football, has zero offers. It would seem one or more schools would have offered simply based on the ranking at that position. That happens all of the time. Something's not right here, and it's not just lack of film.

This is about the time JUCO recruiting really takes off. Most of these kids dont have the same hype that the HS kids have, and they arent really evaluated til the middle to end of the their current seasons.

naw something isn't right, we've been on other JUCO's for a while now not having an offer at this stage is troubling. people either doubt he can play or he has some serious red flags either with injuries or character

We are on the JUCOs that we are aware of, don't both Pelon(SDE) and C Johnson(NT) have connections to Florida? New kids will emerge that second year of JUCO and the info doesnt travel as fast as say a HS recruit. Not saying one way or the other for the kid, but it isnt late in the process here for a kid to emerge.

Thats not me, as the OP of this thread. Also based on those highlights which include a few 2013 games, there is no way this kid is #1 DT in the country, he is not Top 10 either. There several JUCO's we have already mentioned as potential UM Prospects that are way better. He does look like he is a good JUCO player but not Top 10, that said if the all the others fall through then why not make a run at him, to fill a juco dt spot for UM's 2014 class.

I understand what you are saying, but if this kid is rated as the #1 JUCO DT in the nation...we'd be aware of him. So would many other programs. He wouldn't just sneak up on everyone. I agree with most on here that something is not right with this. Whether it's the ranking or the athlete.

Last year Toby Johnson was the #1 guy most of the year, til Lavon Hooks emerged and took that spot. Not saying whether or not the kid is worthy of the ranking, just that the JUCO rankings are different, and guys dont emerge til later, a lot of the times.

Yeah, I agree. OP is not Danny, er..Paranos. Like Danny, Paranos always ended his posts, "go canes." I knew this wasn't paranos from the git-go. (Don't really know what a "git go" is, but I heard Gary Stevens say it in the post game interview after the '88 OB)

Personally, I liked the kids film. You sure as **** can't teach his size. 6'5 315 is exactly what we are looking for. Our nose doesn't have to be flashy in AGs scheme. He just has to own the center. Would be a solid add.

Isn't it preferable to have guys a little shorter with a lower center of gravity for the nose? It used to be the conventional wisdom, although Bob Baumhower was an exception. I dunno, maybe it's different now.

Renfrow has been listed at 6'6 so i presume he is at least 6'5 or so and he has been very effective in our system, considering he got here in August and was T-Shirt guy up till about a week before game 1. So I think bringing in a DT that size, on its own premise, isn't a drawback. I have no idea if he's good or not, but nothing about 6'5 315 says "no thanks" to me.

Toby Johnson was coming off major knee surgery and he still was a highly recruited Juco, DT is such a premium position with him not having an offer Ima have to say his ranking is off

Is Renfrow playing the nose in a 3-4?
