Alex Leatherwood coming back for senior season at Bama

Just like all of the 2000 guys came back to finish what they started, Bama players are doing the same thing. Are bags involved? Of course, but why would you or anyone else turn down and risk 10's of millions of dollars just to take home, what? $100k?

As I mentionded before, kids who are winning tend to like school....I was around the SC program and those dudes thoroughly enjoyed beating opponents, and if Matt could've come back for a 5th year to avenge the loss against UT, he would've. I talked to former players here and they enjoyed being The U. Kids are leaving here b/c they don't like it here, period. I've said that for years now.

I get what you’re saying man but turning down the amount of money and then say that all these players on all these teams are doing it for pride and brotherhood seems a little fishy. You’re mentioning one team at um but every year these teams are having dudes to come back turning down big money. And why is it always the big money teams. You don’t see dudes aother teams and conferences doing the same thing. It’s more common to have dudes that are lower draft picks to come back for the senior year to elevate their stock but Day one picks hardly ever do that.
I don’t know how much or what amount. But look at all the players that are risking injury and where they go to school at. It’s gotta be more than just a coincidence. Ed Oliver said deuces after 3 for example.
Lets put it this way, leatherwoods love and desire to win a natty is more than the possibility of risking his career or even dropping in the draft. While our players have such disdain and apathy for our team that they rather risk being undrafted then return and work hard to up theirs stock. sht doesn’t make sense to me.
I refuse to believe that Clemson uga and bama somehow manage to recruit guys that are more likely to stay 4 years than everyone else. Especially day one picks. But everyone else recruited the wrong guys that are ready to bounce the second they get a draft grade. Every year we here the money excuse on why dudes leave. He has a kid, his dad is sick, etc. amazing how all the bama kids don’t have the money problems our kids do.

It makes no sense to stay when you're a 1st round pick. Or a 2nd round pick. I've got to believe there are some serious incentives for him that make staying around a lot easier.

I feel you; but honestly, a lot of UGA players bounce after 3 yrs, too. I know Roquan came back b/c they legit had a shot at winning the national championship and they were.

Najee’s uncle is one of my clients, and when Tua went down, from what I understood, there was real hurt and anger behind it, b/c they couldn’t avenge last season’s embarrassment.

I think it’s much easier for college kids who can write their name in history books to be convinced of staying (especially when mom & dad are or have been taken care of) v. convincing a kid to stay at a **** hole w literally zero incentives.

When it was rumored/reported on this board that Tracy Howard was low key telling recruits not to come here, I’ve been convinced that these young men feel like they have to escape, even if that means jumping out of a plane w a raggedy parachute that may or may not open.

Leatherwood & Moses have already said they're returning. Tua announces on Monday. Thats like spotting them 3 first round picks next year if Tua comes back. Then there's Jedrick Willis, Ruggs, Jeudy & Devonta Smith. All 4 have had been in the 1st round of recent mock drafts but haven't said anything yet. Some mock drafts have Najee Harris as a fringe first round pick. If he comes back, he would probably have a good chance too. Diggs and Lewis sat out the bowl game but still haven't declared. And I dont even know which of their draft eligibile sophomores are getting 1st round buzz for next year. But they could actually tie or break the record.

It's not complicated. Elite talent is being monopolized by a handful of programs. I have mentioned this repeatedly. It is the reason the power ratings are astronomical for the top few teams, compared to a decade or more ago. If Clemson or especially LSU win by any type of margin they will receive some acclaim as greatest college team ever. If we aren't prepared for that reality we're fools. And it is going to continue to happen year after year if one of the top programs races through unbeaten and wins the two playoffs games in dominant fashion.

The '83 route is not available anymore. That's one of the obstacles to Miami returning to national championship level. You can't sneak past East Carolina and Florida State to end the season and then host the national championship game while needing only one upset (Georgia over Texas) along the way.

Excellent summary. Michigan was very motivated and out hit Alabama for big portions of that game. But field goals don't defeat Alabama. The Michigan coaches were emphasizing that on the bench.

Michigan's ongoing problem in big games is that the pass defense always falls well short of its level against moderate foes. There should be a variance but not to this extreme. Michigan allowed 11.6 YPA to Ohio State and 13.1 YPA to Alabama.

Leatherwood looked good against Michigan but I thought the right tackle Wills had some problems. He might be under consideration for one of the Dolphins' later 2 first round picks.

People wanted to take Willis at 5 if Thomas wasn't there and I was like nope.
 
He signed a 3 year contract with a incentive and performance bonus option for a 4th, and he is exercising it.

Honestly I think he signed a 4 year joint up front period. There are different contracts out there for parents and players. All contracts are not the same.
