Alex Collins

No doubt, we won big-time on signing day that year, but not afterwards. The entire class was colossal, full of young men who could've gone anywhere, but picked us. It was the basis of where a few years later I started saying how Miami had become a place where talent goes away / dies.

should of had him and cook n michel

People don't understand these kids want to be featured from the get go. Thats what most of them didn't come. You would never have Cook, Sony, Yearby, and Collins join one team that is already featuring Duke. They all want to be Duke at the same time. That's why they are elsewhere.

but back in the day we had James jackson, najeh, portis, mcgahee, and then gore all in a row. Frank Gore was 3rd string here after setting Dade HS records. It can happen if you have the right situation.

Mentality of these particular players were different. People are telling these kids they can be stars in places like Arkansas. FSU needed a featured back to follow Devonta Freeman, plus there is extra issue that Cook and Yearby prob didn't want to continue splitting carries and would surely not want to be splitting it 3 ways with Sony since they are all the same yr. Kids want to make it to the NFL and get NFL $ as soon as possible. You are never gonna get Sony, Yearby, and Cook in one class or even 2 of those.

Frank and Willis were at that level but in different, staggered classes. The others were in previous classes and also staggered.

Bull! FSU pulled in Jacques Patrick this year and Cook is only a Sophmore.
UF still had Kelvin Taylor, the No. 1 back in the nation coming out, they had Brandon Powell, Cronkrite had already committed and Jordan Scarlett still committed to them last year.

It's all about coaching and what a program can do to put that kid in the best position to succeed. Kids are still going to top schools, regardless who's there in their position. If going by ur logic was legit, then these smaller programs would get these kids b/c they wanna start.

The U gets the right coach, and we'll have a loaded revolver again at all positions.

Again, you would have never gotten Sony, Cook, and yearby in the same yr.

FSU was in the NC game 2 yrs running and Patrick and Cook are staggered.

Regarding Jordan Scarlett and UF, and I quote sbnation.com:
"Florida has an attractive depth chart and his girlfriend reportedly attending the school."

And to my last point, we gotta raise our recruiting groupie game. No doubt Butch will hook that up.

No. Sony went to school with another highly rated RB in Nick Chubb. That's no different than the situation that he would have come into at Miami with Yearby being in the same class, and a star RB playing his last year in Duke Johnson (Gurley for UGA).

Jordan Scarlett was asking Cronkrite to join him at UF to be the best freshman duo in the country. Crokrite's had more carries than Scarlett. He also committed to us when we had 3 other RBs that were already committed.

Yes, some players like Collins will go to a school like Arkansas where they know that they'll get a lot of PT as a freshman. A lot of schools still sign 2 quality backs in the same class. I remember last season, LSU signed the Army All-american MVP and another highly rated RB from Baton Rouge.

Not sure why you bring up Sony and Chub. Are you reading this thread? POint was already made.

Yes, teams do sign 2 quality backs in one class...but rarely do they sign 3 elite backs, and Miami would never get those 3.

I agree it wouldn't happen under the current state of the program, but hopefully that changes soon.

Miami could get those 3 if the program was winning. At worst, we get 2.

I do remember USC signing 4 AAs at RB in 2006. Moody, Johnson, Gable, and Bradford.

Are YOU reading the thread?

Your initial statement was that "these kids wanna be featured" and that they won't sign with other elite backs.

Alex saw what many of us on here see, that AG sucks. He simply made a fool out of a fool.

This does not concern us, be a better "fake fan" by focusing your b!tching on Al Golden

Don't think so. I still believe his high school coach got a big pay day to deliver him

20 rushes, 54 yards. Plus the loss to Toledo. Haha.

Hope you're enjoying Little Rock. SEC door mat.

He'll make a lot of money in the pros, but I can't help but enjoy this outcome.

we lost to cinci and your taken shots?

You can't blame this guy....obviously he made the right decision.

1. Plays big time football in great atmospheres every week.
2. He has had a great opportunity to show case his skills.
3. Knew that Miami program was being run by amateurs.

Well let's see, play at Miami for Golden and an empty stadium, or play at Arkansas with crazy fans, SEC, change of scenery, etc. No brainer.

Yeah those kids would not, specifically Cook, yearby, and Alex. I think it's gonna be pretty impossible to get two or more elite ones the same yr nowadays given all the tv coverage there is in Cfb and how hard other schools are recruiting SFL without some sort of shenanigans.

^^^^ This!

Plain and simple we didn't get Sony, Cook, Scarlett, or Cronkrite b/c of performance on the field....new coach will lock down the fence and we'll get two stud running backs again. I'm not buying these kids have a different mentality, and they just want playing time....no, these kids have the same mentality which is, I wanna win and get the most positive exposure to get into the league. Right now, Miami ain't that school; but w the right hire (Herman or Butch), it will be that way again.

Kid is still cashing in for the NFL at the end of the year. No need to be bitter for a kid that went to Arkansas. He wanted to tote the rock all day. Let him be. Looks like a 10 win season for the U.

At this point I am not bitter.
In fact, never been bitter.
It's him that has to spend time in Arkansas, not me.

I'm really hoping he's enjoying his time there, especially those
special Saturday nights at that local joint where folks do the Hog Calls
en masse, because I am enjoying the heck out of watching the soFla
pigs lose games.
Only thing that would make even better is if that morbidly obese high
school mentor of his has a massive blockage of his overworked colon
during one of his games.
Eff those maggots, all of them.

Don't forget Arkansas gave us Jimmy Johnson, Butch Davis, and Cortez Kennedy.. I'll take those three over anything they've gotten from south Florida
