alex collins vs Duke johnson

My only concern with Duke was he had 38 carries for 115 yards against FSU/UNC/K-St and ND. Obviously those are tough teams, but 3.0 ypc won't get us to where we all want to be. He was a true freshman, so the sky is the limit.

"Faulk ran a 4.28 forty-yard dash time at the combine and measured 5'10 and 207 pounds. On March 31, 1994, Faulk ran a 4.35 forty-yard time at the San Diego State Pro Day."

Are you implying that Duke is slow? lol

Duke ran a 4.39 as a freshman...He'll probably be running a mid 4.3, if not faster by the time he's ready for the combine.

His junior year in high school was his first year of organized football... That is scary! His potential is insane!

but it's not like football is a game requiring tremendous amount of skill. the most important thing in football is athleticism.

let's get real, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer all require much more technical ability.

DEFINITELY DIDN'T MEAN TO LIKE THIS POST! PRETTY REDICULOUS STATEMENT INFACT!

In comparison to those sports his statement is very true.

Duke does not run a 4.3 anything on an electronic timer, guaranteed, and he will never run in the 4.2s, love the kid, but that isn't happening. He's probably a 4.45 guy on a real NFL combine timer

Don't think Sony has Lamar Miller speed. Not this year atleast.

An article I read the other day said he was running some 4.3s, not sure if true though. Also said he was squatting 550+ and benchin 400+. I know he ran a 10.6 100 as a Fr or So in HS.

You're talking about pre knee surgery. I said he isn't that fast this year. He's gotten alot bigger since his freshman year and I'm not saying it's bad weight because it isn't, the kid is ripped but his body is still playing catch up.

I assume you know Faulk was not timed with an electronic timer either?

That's a possiblilty, I'll have to chenck his track stats in the Spring. He looked plenty fast enough on his post surgery fim averaging 10 ypc though. HurricaneGlory is the guy we need in here, he knows Sony personally I believe.

At the NFL combine, was he pre-electronic? I thought electronic started in 1990. None the less, I assure you Faulk is faster than Duke, but that's no knock, Faulk was the fastest RB in the NFL for years.

NFL didn't start using electronic time at combine until 99'. Also how do you know Faulk was faster than Duke?

callin me son lmao, I'm probably older than you. You think he's faster because you watched him play he didn't get run down, but you've seen Duke get run down? ALso I'd rather not trust you since you didn't even know Faulk wasn't electronically timed in the forty.

Football speed is all I care about. For Miller's great long distance track speed, he sure got hawked down a lot in games and looked like he took forever to get to top speed.

It was partial electronic, hand start/electronic finish (pretty reprouducible, started in 1990), but whatever. And I have seen Duke ran down, more than once. You haven't?

// I love Duke, am glad we have him for two more years, but our fans sometime go too DBC on players.

nope but maybe you can enlighten me on when. Hopefully it's not someone who has the angle on him or he's breaking a tackle of another player.

Been saying it forever, but Duke reminds me of Faulk more than any other RB.

LOL... Yea you probably are quite a bit older by your reaction to him calling you "son". It's not the same "son" like our grand pappy used to say... "Hello sonny". The "son" that's used in modern urban vernacular means more like "friend", "associate" or "pal".

Sorry for the lecture on the etymology of the word, but your reaction was kinda funny. It is all love though.

Happy holidays to you big boss.

Without question. I made the mistake of saying Reggie Bush in the summer and sometimes during the year, but two of the real glaring differences between Bush and Faulk are first and foremost vision and the other subtlety is that while Bush is a nice mismatch or receiver out of the backfield, Faulk really becomes another WR when you motion him out of the backfield. Dude is the only great RB, with great RB instincts, that could run the entire route tree.

I think Fisch is going to have a whole heap of fun with Duke this year and the different sub packages you can have because of his skill set. I can envision a package with Sandland, Duke, and Collins, that put the defense in a quandary. Base personnel or Nickel? You go nickel and we run it down your throat all game. You go base? Now you have linebackers on Sandland and Duke split out wide.
