Alex Bauman (is unplayable)

Tulane used him as basically just a red zone target. Only had 20 catches last year and 7 was tds. Only 200 yards. I think he has good hands but he is slow and not a good blocker

get schott ready during the bye ... ive seen enough

I was literally threatening to punch my buddy last night if i saw #87 on the field because he was playing so poorly. He was whiffing on run blocks and getting ragdolled at times.....and that was BEFORE he tried to block air as a checkdown receiver on a pass route. It was bad. With all the TEs recruited in recent years, other guys should be getting. If they aren't any better, then ok, play the experienced vet. But that position was adding very little value last night to this offense.

On a sidenote - i was not a fan of Shannon's playcalls most of the night. The route concepts and some of the stale run concepts that weren't working in Q2/Q3 were uninspiring. Yes, Beck played incredibly poorly but the playcalls were not helping.

What's going on with Samson?
he went into the locker room in second quarter with a shoulder injury, came back with a brace. came into the game and fell down in pain on last drive in agony. then, like a volcano, he shot up, yelled and ran back to the bench like he had had a little sug-ar. not sure how hurt he is.

Coaches seem to be really impressed by him.

Have we sent him on a seam or post route AT ALL?! We only throw short passes to our TEs and don’t have them make the safeties work AT ALL! I can’t blame players when we are playing caveman football.
He's to slow for that. What I knew this off season. He really doesn't belong here and he is playing a lot of snaps. Our TE blocking has been awful all year. We play younger players so what does this tell you about the TE room right now? Hopefully, they feel more confident about these younger TE's by the end of the season.

Somehow this guy was a RedZone threat at Tulane. Approaching mid-season it may be time to give Gilbert more burn. Maybe let this guy do his RedZone thing. Unless Schott is a better option. Even in goal line situations I'd rather slide McCoy to TE. Reps probably need to decrease.

Him outsnapping Lofton 60 - 35 this game was Coaching Malpractice honestly.

He's done LITERALLY nothing to deserve that many snaps.

Bauman is a decent receiving TE, but he is a complete liability in the running game. Completely whiffed on multiple blocks against ND and UF. If he was blocking better we'd be gashing teams worse.

This is what bothers me. I can almost be ok with the not catching the ball well or being a real pass options - every team has a TE like that. But if he can't come in motion and even just get in the way of that DE ,wtf is the point? He's missed that block every single time. All you see if a flailing elbow as he misses by several yards. Its utterly uncoordinated. Against UF he missed on a crucial 3rd down but our back was past the DE already and we got lucky.

I would offer Bauman has been one of the least effective transfer portal additions to our University of Miami Hurricane Football Giants.
