Alberto Mendoza 3* QB from Columbus

Weird. Wasn’t it manny that told his brother to kick rocks? Didn’t I just listen to how disrespected the family felt by that for the past 2 weeks? Crazy to blame the university and not, ya know, the exact person that told him to beat it.
LOL, I thought the same.

If he transfers there I already know we will have to hear than nonsense again about Alberto AND Manny when we will play Duke

If the kid has any intelligent support system he goes to GT and stays the **** away from Duke

That's not even a comparable situation

Brent Key will give him a decent OL to protect, Justice Haynes to hand the ball to, an actual system, etc.

Manny's OL will get you killed and Brewer is a clueless **** OC. So bad that I'm actually worried about Mensah adapting to our system. It might take a few and there will be bumps in the road. Luckily he played under Craddock at Tulane and has some background in actually playing QB.

**** this family and their very Christian act of holding a 4 year grudge with a personal vendetta against the entire program. Not misguided at all

Who cares?

In no way, shape, or form did I come away from that gaming wishing we had Mendoza or thinking he changed the outcome at all. He may go 1/1 but he's not in the same stratosphere as Ward. Give me Chambliss 100x out of 100 over that kid.

He did absolutely nothing. Give him all the credit for the designed run that you want I guess. Throwing up some prayers to a 6'4 kid that saved his ***.

Any truth to Fernando being told he 'wasn't worthy of being a walk-on' at Miami? To me that sounded like some fake news narrative Mendoza made up.

I could easily see why Diaz would pass on a scholarship for him, but denying a walk on? IDK about that.

CMC literally said in a press conference that the brother will be just as good (Which obviously is laced with coach speak)…But if you believe anything near this

It actually ****ed me off lol…BC if you are saying this just a year removed from HS, why didn't you offer him?

ESPN guys gassed the story.

He was told after the camp that they’ll consider him as a walk-on but he wasn’t getting a scholarship; which he kinda knew already.

You don’t really give out preferred walk-on spots a whole year in advance; from what I’ve heard. It just hit him hard cuz it wasn’t like ‘we only have 1 scholarship avaliable for qb but if you come in as a walkon it could be avaliable later etc.’

Seems like he had been going to the summer camps consistently — Golden, Paradise w/ Richt, & Diaz’s. (Idk if randy Shannon held camps).

He committed to Yale that summer then flipped to Cal Berkley after his senior year. Both Dan Enos and Rhett Lashalee passed on him. I don’t think Diaz was paying attention to qb recruiting tbh. I’d be interested to hear Rhett’s response from his pov

He’s two years removed.

He obviously didn’t realize it until it was too late. His brother was much better as a sophomore than a freshman at Cal, and Alberto only started his senior year; then he was really good.

Still, no major programs took notice. He was committed to JMU & Cig got the IU job so he flipped with his coaching staff.
