alabama understand the situation

this exactly will hurt ND more than anybody (if the ACC ever kicks them to the curb like they should)....nobody from:
ACC
B1G
P12
SEC
will want to schedule tough out of conference games when they already have 9 in conference games and 1 or 2 other annual rivalries..

Clemson has a 12 year deal with ND.. that means they have:
9ACC games
1 game against SC every year
1 game against ND
Only gives them room for 1 additional game

I would agree to sign a long term deal with ND but only if it was for the last game (rivalry weekend) every year.

Moves like these, at this point of a conversation and more importantly by teams like Alabama, just confirm to me that we're going to get left out of the cfp . Alabama and the like, that have traditionally gotten the benefit of the doubt because they already played for the SEC just going ahead and adjusting their schedule already for next year so they don't have to run into this and be potentially left out means they know the rules are a sham and nothing matters but W's

What the committee established, which is insane, is that the level of excellence needed to beat a very good team is not as impressive as beating average teams consistently.

I have watched Miami football the last 20 years. Miami has been able to beat average-good teams multiple times throughout their seasons. The thing we were never able to do was beat very good teams. Go look at 2017. We beat all the average-good teams on our schedule, all the way to #2 in the country. But we had not shot against Clemson or Alabama. Every fan knew it.

Beating Notre Dame is more impressive than beating teams on the fringe of the top 25 and out of the top 25. Any team can lose a game. Not every team can beat a top 10 team. We all watch college football. We all know that beating top 10 teams is something that is on a different level and proof that you are a contender.

Penn State doesn't have a coach because of this. Do you belong on the field? That is the question. You play two top 10 teams and you lose but you beat every average team you play. You do not belong on the field. The same goes for BYU and Utah. Do you belong on the field? Proving that is one of the hardest things to do in sports.

And people thought this year's Pitt game was cold.

It’s all circular logic at this point. Without real non-conference games, nobody can pop the bubble that every SEC matchup is a “playoff game” or that Big Ten teams are somehow built different.

We’re about to see SEC and Big Ten teams stack easy OOC wins, stumble to two losses in-conference, and still sit at the top because all their losses happen inside the bubble. Perception does the heavy lifting.

And with no real cross-conference data, the narrative writes itself: “Sure, Bama lost twice… but those were SEC losses to Miss State and Vandy. That’s basically one loss in the Big 12 or ACC.”

You gift every SEC team 3 wins. So if you go 5-4 in SEC play you are 8-4, likely ranked, and already on the brink of playoff discussion.

Miami needs to be doing **** like this. Call a press conference and declare early season games dead and make clear our intent to schedule only cupcakes. Raise the stakes.
