Nah, we actually hired a guy this time that is allowed to be in the weight room while the players are working out. It's a step in the right direction.

No idea. Coker originally hired Swasey and Shannon and Golden kept him. Swasey also held some sort of title under Butch Davis although he wasn't the main strength and conditioning coach. Coker was pretty well known to not care in the least about strength and conditioning or players staying in shape. Hence the term Coker Country Club. Golden and Shannon actually did care about strength and conditioning but I believe that former players pressured them to keep Swasey on staff. It's similar to why Golden hired back Art Kehoe despite how awful he was.

The strength and conditioning coach doesn't just work with the football team. So it wasn't just the football team that was suffering from Swasey. I wonder why Larrañaga and the other sports coaches didn't demand Swasey be fired.

He was rumored to get some job at Columbus High School after Richt fired him. That's how awful he was.

Swasey may have been a problem, but he was the 7th most important problem at best. Almost all of our losses were due to poor coaching and a general lack of toughness. Fix those and you would hardly have noticed the sorry state of our S&C.

Swasey was horrible. He was a product of genetically gifted athletes that kicked everyone's *** regardless of inferior weight training. Those guys knew what it took and they just did their own thing in the weight room. Just like they did on the field. Does anybody really think Coker had any control or say so of those teams?? **** no. They coached themselves. It never stopped, but after Butch's guys left and then the bums that Coker recruited started, we went downhill fast. Nothing changed just the talent and coaching.
 
Don't worry guyz, we got this....we have a 300 pound lumbering guy as our S&C guy that we got on the cheap!
