A sobering moment of clarity leads us to this simple fact Al Golden will be back next year because UM can't / won't pay the $10 million buyout plus the $3-$4 million for the new head coach. However I am sure there will be several staff members who are let go the day after the bowl game! Paul William, Jethro Franklin, an yes D'onofrio will be shown the door as will AG's putrid passive defensive scheme that started with Golden at UVA in 2004 and died with Golden at UVA 2014.

The question is what assistant coaches would be willing to come to Miami at this point an work for effectively a Lame Duck Head Coach. Even former UM player assistant coaches might be Hard Pressed to make that move without guaranteed money for at 3 years in their contracts which after the hosing Golden's contract extension gave UM, I doubt the administration will be willing to do.

I think Kevin Patrick would come as DL Coach no matter because he wants to coach at badly, an it would be better than North Texas. An he is a monster recruiter.

The Wild Card is what up an coming Def Coor would be willing to come to UM at this point, that would be agreeable to both fans and recruits a like, that AL Golden would be comfortable putting in control of the Defense with almost full autonomy whom also runs a 3-4 scheme. UM would need an excellent teacher and communicator that can get the kids to buy in quickly, while also having a short learning curve for implementing his defensive scheme.

If it were my choice I would offer the Dave Aranda the DC from Wisconsin, he has the nations #1 defense after having to replace 8 starters an these kids are 2* and 3* kids. He knows how to recruit Florida and the West Coast. His defenses are built on speed an attacking while maintaining a deep quarters to prevent the big play. The only issues would be money and coaching autonomy. He is white hot now as a Asst Coach an UM would have pay 2-3yr guaranteed money on a 4 year contract of $600-$650k to get him. But he could make Miami a Championship contender overnight.

So the real the question at this point is does UM's administration put on their big boy pants to double on their AL Golden bet an do a forced intervention with Al Golden to make him hire some new assistant coaches an taken on an additional $2-$3 Million in guaranteed money liability?

The buyout is nowhere near fifteen million

No ones coming here knowing their on a one year deal to turn things around. He waited to late in the game. Best thing to do is resign at this point.

Wow some of you live in fantasy land. Why on earth would Aranda want to come here? Only way he leaves Wisconsin is for a HC job. Like you said, no good coaches will want to come to Miami to coach under a lame duck HC. Hey how about we start the Butch as DC fantasy thoughts? That has about as much of a chance to happen as him as HC or Aranda as DC. Knowing Golden, he'll fire the good coaches(Coley, Ice, Kehoe) and keep his Virginia buddies.

Your right I didn't deduct this year. So its more like a $10 million buyout, which still hurts when combined with paying a Head Coach $3-$4 million.

So Cribby what is your guesstimate of Golden's contract buyout.

Al needs to go, but if not then we have to consider the question of does anyone really want to be his assistant coach? He got Art to come back, but Art would have come for a dozen donuts and small cup of coffee, picking them up on the way. He loves THE U. Jed was nobody who got shot as OC at big time school without paying dues. Coley wanted to call plays and got a ton of money. Al has his Temple losers who probably have to drop down to HS after this. Brown, Ice, and a couple other local HS coaches have been take the chance of a lifetime to jump from HS to big time college--most are Canes anyway. He got the one guy from USF. I think we have to realize that any established coach really does not want to coach with Al.

Your whole premise is defeatist and simply wrong.

Keeping him costs the program more, much more. We will set the program back 2-3 yeas minimum by keeping him for another year. You really want to keep a lame duck coach for a whole year? That is a disaster. Let's be honest, there is zero chance he wakes up and changes who he is. He has a Temple mentality with Miami athletes, he coaches scared and not to lose. Will never ever be a championship coach with that mentality. He is 1-17 against teams that finished ranked. Let that sink in.

Losing to a ****poor UVA team last night shows this is a broken team. They have quit (excluding Denzel and Warlord). Frankly, they should quit. His process, pillars and program have produced nothing in four years. Nada. We have yet to sniff winning this terrible division despite having the highest recruiting classes three years in a row. The definition of getting less with more.

Miami has plenty of money to buy him out and hire a championship coach. The admin/BOT simply does not view a championship football program as a priority for the school. It's a **** shame, this program has done so much for this school and they are completely apathetic and indifferent.

Stop being so naive and gullible. The AD at Bama recently said the investment in Nick Saban has paid off by a factor of 10! Best money the University has ever spent.

Post of the year. You took it right out of my mouth and others.

Paranos assumes a 100% buy out for no apparent reason. In fact there is history that suggests that is simply something Miami would never do.

50% of remaining balance or 2.5x annual salary are reasonable assumptions, and that puts us in the $5-6M range. This is exactly what UF just paid to oust Muschamp, fwiw.

People think a buyout is full salary but like you mentioned it's not.

Who the **** ever hear of a buyout being the full amount of the contract? Stop positing numbers you don't know. UM doesnt have to disclose anything about coaches contract. Stop making shhh up

And people cant compre golden to muschamps situation golden didnt play with a full deck

UVA did have a full deck? Recruiting So FL players is a **** full deck. Few schools have that luxury. Muschamp is a better coach than Golden sorry. UF just has higher standards than we do.
