Al Golden's Detroit Lions

You guys can get your rocks off continuing to beat this dead horse, but I give the guy credit for bouncing back and trying to reinvent himself. Instead of disappearing like the typical sissy who gets fired, he put himself out there again.

As a Lions fan, it looks to me like Folden might be a TE savant. He's turned Ebron around, who was a major bust before Al got there. Ebron all of a suddenly looks like what we hoped he would look like when my Lions spent the 10th overall pick on him.

And he's responsible for Rick having the embarrassment of riches at TE that he currently enjoys.

I can see Al reemerging on the scene as an offensive guru one day. He's a quick study.

he had plenty of time to study his way out of the many reasons he was losing while here. Regardless, best of luck to him.

He might have been miscast the entire time as a defensive guy. Looks to me like he's a master TE coach, and we know he recruited the fck out of that position here and developed it incredibly well.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him work his way up the ranks as an offensive coach and eventually reemerge as an OC and then an offensive minded HC.

Huh...you had me up until guru as a tight ends coach. You're kidding...right???

Alph was stubborn about running the defense that he ran here or allowing Dorito to continue to run it. Failure after failure he never changed it so he's not a quick study. Folden will never be a successful HC or even OC until he learns to adapt to what's going on and run a proper defensive scheme as a HC. You know this. You must be kidding.

RVA, he might not have fixed the defense because he might not have known how. He knew what he knew as a defensive coach. He was an offensive guy his whole life.

I think it's clear in Ebron's sudden and incredible emergence that Folden knows what he's doing with TEs. It's also clear in his recruiting of the position and development of the position that he's one of the best there is with TEs.

Will that translate to him being able to artfully run an entire offense? I don't know, but I wouldn't bet against a guy with his tireless work ethic and PROVEN ability with TEs to find his niche as an offensive mastermind. He's learning under one of the NFL's up and coming offensive minds right now.
