I found the title of the article very interesting and also fitting for a coach on the hot seat who is constantly saying he is not feeling the heat at Miami to win big now or else.

Miami Hurricanes coach Al Golden to players: Impress now or risk being left behind
By Susan Miller Degnan August 18, 2015

University of Miami football coach Al Golden made it clear Tuesday after the first session of the Hurricanes’ final two-a-day: Impress coaches now or risk being left behind.

One week before classes start at UM, the Canes are treating this as a game week, and by the time Sunday night rolls around — the eve of the start of the fall academic semester — a team will be born.

“This afternoon and tomorrow,’’ Golden said Tuesday morning, “if you’re going to move, it’s time to move. When we wake up Sunday, we’re setting a team.

“Not that guys can’t grow and develop — some guys are better in October than they are now, certainly. But we’ve got to move forward.’’

Golden said “Thursday is basically a walk-through, Friday is game simulation for 40 minutes, but we’re not evaluating anybody there.

“Then the [scrimmage] game is Saturday night.’’

▪ The players who wore yellow, limited-contact jerseys Tuesday were kicker Mike Badgley (hip), defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad (hip), receiver Braxton Berrios (hamstring) and defensive back Robert Knowles (unspecified).

▪ The coach praised 6-1, 200-pound freshman weak-side linebacker James King, a Miami Booker T. Washington graduate, as “a real bright spot’’ this camp. “He’s got his weight up. He’s fast. He’s 4.7 as a freshman. Throwing him in the mix has helped a lot.’’

▪ Golden said safety Jamal Carter “is having a great camp. He’s a bulldog. He’s relentless. And now he’s putting together being verbal and having command of the secondary. He’s always had a physical presence, but now he’s really settled in to playing the defense and executing at a higher level. His [mental errors are way down.’’

▪ Hurricane Hotline, on 560 WQAM during the season, will be hosted at the UM Rathskeller this year in the Shalala Student Center. Each week, Golden and various assistants and players will be guests. The first show will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 31.

Most of the shows will occur Monday nights, though the second show is Tuesday, Sept. 8

Is he stupid enough to think kids are going to transfer to old dominion to follow him to his next job?

This new tone is because of all of the Kumbaya and unity between competing players.

It is not moving these players to be competitive and looking out for No. 1, self, in front of these united competitors.

Duke new NFL coach was ****ed because his 3 RBs back, including Duke, were not separating from one another and not one was separating...Kumbaya there too.

Needless to say, I agree with this call for drastic competition and way less of all this Kumbaya & unity...

What!??

That fat-assed, know-nothing, PSU puke-of-a-coach hasn't impressed any Cane fan since he got here!

When is HE going to get left behind?

Well since we have a depth chart incoming on Sunday it's kinda true when you think about it if they want a good spot on the depth chart

Great..... Al Gorlden said something...blah blah blah blah

Win a real game btich!

You are in charge of the CANES ffs!!!!

Gorlden is a Bruce Jenner.

Blah blah blah blah blah blah!. If we had the audio to that he would no doubt sound like Charlie Brown's teacher. Moving Day? A team being born on Sunday? Al Tin being Al Tin.

So they have taken Hurricane Hot line on campus? Al must need extra protection for the Sign Police this year.

Al should have listened to his own advice 2-3 years ago before he lost 90% of the fans.

Ok, so since when is 4.7 considered fast for a LB?

Considering only 5 LB's in last years NFL Combine ran a 40 under 4.6 I'd say it's pretty good for a freshman. FYI Denzel Perryman was a 4.78.

Well in our scheme, they tend to cover slot WRs and TEs so I don't think it's good enough. Plus he is 200 lbs soaking wet so it's not like he's carrying 245 lbs like Perryman is.

Ok, so since when is 4.7 considered fast for a LB?

4.7 is his 40 time. How quick is he over 20-25 yards?

yes and it is still not fast which was the point of the post.

Jas King IS plenty FAST and the same dude who ran a sub 10.6/100M in a Spring track meet. If you read between the lines while blocking out the coach speak, you'd clearly surmise that Golden is both trying to foster his gain weight love affair at all cost to King and highlight his program-building mantra to the media. That time may be a blip for this Trackster and non-media-talking freshman King, or it's an outright an exaggerated/fabricated disclosure by Golden.
