He not only parlayed the NCAA thing into a contract extension, he hid behind it for a good 3 years. Every recruiting failure, every off field and on the field failure was blamed on the cloud. He should thank Nevin Shapiro, Golden would be fired by now had there been no NCAA investigation.

Shapiro himself didn't benefit from the NCAA as much as Golden did.
