Al Golden Served His Purpose

When Golden came into Miami, we were heading into a rough time in Miami's history with the Yahoo/Shapiro crap-storm. To get us through that mess with minimal damage, Golden was ideal. He didn't take risks. He would suspend players at the drop of a hat. He would boast of ACC Coastal division titles that we forfeited. He wore a orange tie Paterno-style for crying out loud. He jumped ahead of the NCAA and kept us out of two bowl games and an ACC Championship game. He was a fair recruiter. And we got out of the mess, thanks to his take-no-chances, apologize-before-asked stance and for the NCAA crapping all over themselves and slapping us on the wrist so they could go clean up their mess.
But that's over and done with. It's obvious Golden has served his purpose and he has nothing left to give to the Miami Hurricanes. He is not going to try and improve his coaching style or fix his coaching staff. He is happy the way things are and is coasting now. There is no more future in the Golden-era of Canes football. Miami Hurricanes football is ready to move on but like an unwanted brother-in-law leeching off of you, he will not leave. There are dozens of other programs out there that could use a guy like Golden. But he wants to stay here where he can suck off a few more paychecks for helping the Canes through the Yahoo/Shapiro mess.

Thank you very Alfred, but it's time for you to go. Our administration sees the mess but they are not willing to move on. They've bought your salesman pitch of being in clouds and having sanctions and the wind causing us to lose another bowl game. Nobody is more passionate about the Canes than the fans. The administration is just a bunch of people looking for the next job up in Arkansas or Georgia Tech or wherever. The fans have been here long before them and will be here long after they are gone. And we aren't fooled. We can see the problems and we know changes need to be made.
It's painfully obvious now that you don't know how to coach a football team at the level the Miami Hurricanes are accustomed to. It's very obvious you do not have the ability to coach an elite college football team. If ya ain't got it, ya ain't got it. You have talents but they are no longer required or needed here. So if you have any pride at all in what you do, you will look for the next position where you can maximize your talents, and the Canes will move on as well.
And until you do go, it's not going to be fun. Canes fans see you for what you are now. And we all have our own ways of letting the school know that we are not happy. Donations will go down, seats will be empty, banners will be flying, merchandise sales will go down, and fans sites like this will keep at it until you decide to move on. And the sooner the better.

I'd say crediting him with keeping us out of two bowl games is a dubious claim at best. Very doubtful that was his call to make.

Fair enough. I'm sure he had a hand in it but it probably wasn't his call. I'm sure he didn't fight the decision tooth and nail either.

Yeah he served his purpose all right...he was basically part of our self imposed sanctions. There's probably some fine print in there somewhere in the NCAA report that stipulates we can't fire him until they say so.

Worst ******* administration in all of major college sports.

Sad to say most Miami Hurricanes sports' programs are in trouble right now. Very depressing.
