-Owens got an in-home visit from Golden last week with him and his dad talikig about "about the impact I can have on the team once I get to know the playbook - he said if I'm not starting I'll be getting playing time and helping out the team."
-thats where Golden learned that Owens' stepfather was in the hospital after knee replacement surgery
-Golden showed up at the hospital unannounced, calling Owens' mother from the lobby.
-"I didn't know he was coming - he called and said `Hey, I'm downstairs,'" Owens' mother said. "I said `I'll meet you at the elevator!'"
-Golden stayed with Owens' mother and stepfather for an hour
-Golden took the visits by himself - an assistant who was supposed to accompany him on the visits had his flight canceled due to fog
-DO mom-"(Golden coming to the hospital) was special, meant a lot - that was family stuff," "He talked about how excited they are to have Darrion, wanted to see if we had any questions about the upcoming year, the whole transition process, how Darrion is with his classwork."
-mom-"It was kind of funny because when he walked in the nurse taking care of my husband and the assistant, they recognized him. It was cool."
DO-"Coach Golden took the time to go to the hospital, and I know my people appreciated that. They were happy. They were 100 percent Miami fans before that, but that made them like Miami even more."
-OV this weekend, EE will play spring
-on being a EE -"is really important. I want to get out there, get to know the playbook, be able to help out my freshman year. I want to learn, be able to play fast instead of still be learning (in the fall)."
-"I'm real excited about the class,""We have lot of great players coming in. I know we're going to be really great."
-"I expect us to get back to being in the national championship, every year being ranked in the top 5. I want to get Miami back to where they were."
