Al Golden Fired from Detroit

Golden was trash. He didnt lose to FIU but there was some extreme blowouts during his tenure. His recruiting was awful. For 1 good player he recruited, there were 3 that should have never been at Miami.

Golden’s recruiting was trash. But it was probably better than Richt and Manny’s recruiting TBH. Certainly no worse than their recruiting.

Thats an interesting question. I can say that Al Golden was once considered the hottest commodity in coaching when he was hired by Temple. A handful of years later the industry all seemed to feel duped by the guy. As we know, he was fraudulent. I have to wonder just how badly his reputation has been damaged. Going from head coach at a power 5 program to Tight Ends coach for a middling NFL franchise was a big time fall from grace.

Will be interesting to see where he ends up. My guess is he takes an FCS/D2/D3 type gig next, likely in the northeast.

I can see him end up at Rutgers under Schiano and actually recruit well for them, especially in the northeast.

Had Golden fired NoD and hired a half decent defensive coordinator, he’d probably still be our coach

Let me guess, he's the other person Blake wants to interview for the director of football job.

S&C at Fairleigh ****inson?

Honestly, Bush league moves like that are part of the reason we have a hard time getting qualified staff and coaches. It may sound funny, but who would want to coach somewhere that pulls bull like that?

Since neither of us have access to the facts, Before I cast judgment, I will await a final decision of a court.

I am NOT ready to call that "alleged" compensation "Bush league" as accusations are often made during lawsuits.

I do know as fact that AG's coaching while here was Bush League...but I have no idea about his contract... nor does anyone else on CIS or the coaching world.

I seriously doubt any good experienced coach & lawyer would fear negotiating with ANY University since contract laws and penalties are fairly well settled.

I also doubt Our difficulties finding good coaches has anything to do them fearing being cheated or
outsmarted on a contract.

Whenever coaches are fired there are loose ends that must legally be tied and disagreements may arise over compensation and obligations. It's inevitable... since both sides have differing interests.

It's premature to declare either side as being legally correct in its actions....that's what the court
