Al Golden Fired from Detroit

Back to College Coaching, but who would want him?.....

Thats an interesting question. I can say that Al Golden was once considered the hottest commodity in coaching when he was hired by Temple. A handful of years later the industry all seemed to feel duped by the guy. As we know, he was fraudulent. I have to wonder just how badly his reputation has been damaged. Going from head coach at a power 5 program to Tight Ends coach for a middling NFL franchise was a big time fall from grace.

Will be interesting to see where he ends up. My guess is he takes an FCS/D2/D3 type gig next, likely in the northeast.

OHHHH. i remember now haha. i try to black out that part of my sports life

Golden probably would have done better at Miami if he had brought Matt Rhule over from Temple with him.

I wonder why Rhule didn’t go to Miami. He actually stayed at Temple for a year under the new coach before joining the Giants staff.

I think Golden and Manny are the same. Golden suckered UM out of millions of dollars pretending he was the new millennium Joe Paterno. Manny is now making millions of dollars pretending to be Jimmy Johnson.

Golden never lost to teams like La Tech and FIU, let alone both in the same year.

Golden was awful, but Manny is an entirely new level of awful.
