Al Called D from the sidelines

Before we anoint Ol' Al a defensive wizard lets see how well he and Dorito do against FSU's offense. Add Virginia to that mix too.

Virginias d is serious

You mean the Virginia defense that's ranked below Miami's in both total and scoring defense? Get a clue and quit talking out of both sides of your mouth.

oh please. UCLA and BYU would have hung a 50 spot on us. Virginia played both of them when their QBs were healthy.

In what reality would we give up 50 points to UCLA, the 31st scoring offense with a crap offensive line that features Malcolm Bunche at LT, when we only gave up 41 on the road to Nebraska, the 12th ranked scoring offense and 7th best rushing attack in the nation? Yeah, UCLA is the magic team to which we're going to surrender the most points we've surrendered since the 2012 team with Earl Moore & Corey King on the D-Line played a top 5 K-State team in Manhattan. Get out of here with that idiocy disguised as an argument.

BYU put up 40+ against that UVA defense that ALSO gave up 20 points in a LOSS to the same Duke team that could barely complete a forward pass against Miami.

It's one thing to say Miami should have an elite defense, because they don't right now. It's stupidity and football ignorance to act like Miami's defense is worse than UVA's when it in no way is. Anybody here who is stupid enough to say they would rather have UVA's defense is part of the problem with Miami Hurricane football.

I watched that UCLA/ UVA game in which UVA's D basically SHUT DOWN UCLA almost the entire game..I remember coming away, like ****. wish we had a D like that. I think I watched them the following week or a week after that and they impressed me again. That being said, it is totally possible that there D has taken a nose dive...but if you watched that UCLA game there was no way to come away unimpressed.

I hope golden did take over the play calling sometimes a man got to do what a man got to do, the kids did seem a little hyped on D. Coach D had his chance the guy is just to stubborn everything had to go his way and the scheme wasn't fun for the kids, the best coordinators i ever played for were all the same they ask us what we like to do what we feel comfortable doing and mix his scheme in with what we like thats a sign of a good coach you have to adapt...

I'm not buying it. If anything Al told Dorito to dial up some pressure because he knew VT's QB was garbage and couldn't beat us through the air. I fully expect us to go back to the prevent philosophy next week.

The UCLA game was their most impressive game, but it's all perspective. There will be games where we wish we had UVA's defense and I'm certain UVA would have rather had our defense against Duke and would be thrilled to hold VT, their #1 rival whom they haven't beaten in a decade, to a garbage 6 points.

This "grass is always greener on the other side" mentality is weak, though.

It's possible, but not likely

That defense was completely different in the first half so it is "possible"

UCLA would destroy Miami. Please dont post stupidities comparing the garbage soft ACC conference teams to PAC-12, SEC, and even BIG 12 schools.

Right, and Duke was going to push our sheet in. Keep making predictions, clowns. It keeps things entertaining.

UCLA is a two loss team that's giving up 30 points per game and has struggled against garbage teams all season. Memphis, Texas, and a middle-of-the-pack ACC coastal team in Virginia all had chances to beat UCLA. But yeah, they'd "DESTROY" Miami based on nothing.

You're making erroneous claims that you can't possibly back up because you're frustrated that Miami has 3 losses.

I agree. UVAs D was impressive week 1. Haven't seen them since their BYU game so not sure how they will look November 22 when I watch TheU in play them.
