Al has played very well. DJ has looked much improved as of late too.

If Bandy comes back and can focus on Nickel our starting DBs look good next year.

Anyone pounding their chest about Rumph’s recruiting needs to calm down because he missed on day one starters in the 18 and 19 class and 20 looks as unstable as @nystateofmind when Kenneth won’t return his texts.

It’s going to really hurt the complainers that al blades has had a MUCH better sophmore season than either of pat surtain or Tyson Campbell too.

Off the top of my head Mond is better than Sam Howell. And Sam Howell gashed us. I wouldn’t hold out the DBs performance that game if I was trying to make your case.

Our guys are good but the impulse to make homer takes is why this board is always stunned when we lose to marginal teams like UNC.

Mond is no where near the passer or player Howell is, not even close. Howell has had a 2800 passing yard season with 29 tds 6 ints so far. Has the most td passes beyond 20 yards in the country. And for me it’s an incomplete result especially considering how different the defense is with Diaz back in control compared to what it was earlier in the season so that don’t mean much to me. And no one is holding out the db performance that game, they were terrible(bandy, Ivey and hall at least). It’s not a homer take to say bama corners haven’t played any qb worth a **** other than joe burrow, it’s a fact

Howell plays trash cans

Edit: and mond is top 25 QBR while Howell is barely top 50, not that QBR is determinative. But you trying to big up our guys over higher rates recruits who play at championship caliber programs is asinine.

Qbr means nothing to me, Howell has one of the worst Olines in the country and gets sacked a lot which is why his qbr isn’t higher than what it is. From the looks of it qbs who run more or don’t take that many sacks will always have higher qbrs

If Bandy comes back, Blades, Ivey, Couch and Williams starts to look like a real CB room, especially when you add in Clarke and a player to be named later. Finally have some friggin depth at the position. But it all starts with Bandy.

Bottom line, it’s good that Rumph has trained up his guys despite his utter failure to land his top targets.
