Heard he parted ways with team but still on scholarship until end of this Spring semester. Also heard he's graduating this semester but has 1 year left of eligibility. Our DB/S core is thin and could use a one year safety plug in and play option. High Football IQ, Native Miami Kid and was also once a Canes commit. What do you guys think? Lets snag this kid up before anyone knows hes on the market.

Ironic that he's an early graduate considering academics wasn't his strong suit. My dog graduated Summa *** Laude from Marshall, and he's really dumb.

How has he been performance wise? Thought he was going to be a sure fire stud at the college level...Nationally known type player.

Marshall's active leader in career interceptions with eight entering his redshirt junior season ... Called "a safety with corner cover skills," by MU defensive coordinator and secondary coach Chuck Heater.
R-SOPHOMORE SEASON (2014): Helped 13-1 Herd to nationally ranked season and Conference USA championship with a second straight four-interception season ... Tied with fellow safety Tiquan Lang at No. 7 among Herd with 63 tackles (41 solos) ... Had season-high 10 tackles in opening win over Miami (Ohio); made nine tackles in win in his hometown over FIU ... Had seven tackles twice (UAB, Western Kentucky) ... Also broke up four passes on season ... Played in 693 snaps in 12 games, starting 11 (missed Rhode Island and Ohio, injured foot) ... Interceptions came against Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee, Akron and WKU; had 32-yard return versus MTSU and 22 yards against Miami.

R-FRESHMAN SEASON (2013): Selected to Conference USA All-Freshman Team by league coaches ... Moved from corner to safety after arrival of Herd defensive coordinator and secondary coach Chuck Heater ... Missed 2013 spring practice while rehabbing from shoulder surgery ... Wasn't full-go until August camp ... Played 11 games (Weeks 1-8 and 12-14); made one start at free safety (Southern Miss) ... Led Herd with four interceptions, including one in Military Bowl win over Maryland; others came against Gardner-Webb, Southern Miss and UTSA ... Ranked 10th among the Herd in tackles, with 45 (32 solos); also had three pass breakups ... Had season-high 10 tackles (nine solos) in loss at Middle Tennessee ... Posted seven tackles in "Battle of the Bell" rivalry win at Ohio.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2012): Redshirted following surgery for torn right rotator cuff and labrum suffered in second week of August 2012 camp. Underwent surgery in September, rehab lasted into summer 2013.

Its hard to be a nationally known player at Marshall unless you are Randy Moss.

He left Marshall in September of 2015. Wonder what the backstory is there. Would love to have him. But I'm thinking there's a red flag involved that will not allow it to happen

Led team in interceptions with 4 in his redshirt freshman season along with 45 total tackles and 4 interceptions in his sophomore season with 63 total tackles. 8 career interceptions in two seasons with over 100 tackles. He only redshirted due to injury 2 weeks before season started his real freshman season. Playing at home in miami might give the national exposure he didnt receive at Marshall.

I saw an article on a Marshall forum explaining that it was due to the Fact the Defensive Coordinator at Marshall is insane and benched him 2 weeks before season started and then they tried explaining it as he had an injury but was dressed for first game of season and played 2 snaps before benching him rest of game and then parting ways with him because of DC not the HC.

Found the text below in bold on a Marshall forum with a Herd Fan defending Leggett and complaining about the Defensive Coordinator Heater. As far as I can tell he has no character issues, wasn't kick off team and left for personal reasons. Lets go get this kid!!

"Then you look at Leggett. He wasn't struggling in the spring. He wasn't lazy. There were video interviews posted where he was praising Heater. However I have heard Heater talk about how he though AJ was a bit soft and needed to play tougher.

See if I were AJ that would weigh on me hard. He's been a starter for 2 years now. And yes he has been one of if not the best defender on that field. After his freshman year he was already on draft boards as a top15 safety. That's after one season. He went out there and played great back there and you knew exactly what you were getting out of him. Then in the last week of Fall camp he gets demoted to 2nd string. Then the staff starts going around saying he's dealing with back injuries and not playing him."

There's little doubt in my mind he earns a spot starting somewhere in our secondary if this were to somehow happen. That is assuming he actually graduates from Marshall and didn't part ways with the football team for any serious reasons.

He's such a natural football player. Hated losing him a few years ago

This isn't Michael Williams from Wake. This dude can play. I fear there might be more to the story or that he didn't graduate. But if there isn't and he did graduate, this dude's a take 10 out of 10 times. Instant starter. Just add water.

I live 15 min from Marshall in Ohio so I follow Marshall closely as well. The Leggett and AJL dismissals are what I think kept MU from having a special season. Leggett has been a stud since he stepped on campus. He put those numbers up while splitting time with 2 other safeties.(Letman and Lang) Good tackler, strong against the run but excels in pass coverage and tremendous ball skills. He and Heater appeared to have some disagreements. They played it off as an injury but he played a handful of snaps first couple of games. When he wasn't on the field though he was often sulking and away from rest of team. Lang was getting the bulk of the snaps and I think the way he handled it led to his dismissal. Last I've heard he is still in school and on pace to graduate. Would definitely be worth a look.

Signed with West Georgia.... Wondering if Richt takes a stab at him. Hartley and Brown were there during Leggetts time there.
