Anyone driving, I recommend turning on recirculate for your air when it starts looking smokey. If you have breathing problems definitely bring your inhaler just in case. I'm wondering what the effect if any it will have on the players. Hopefully the wind will continue carrying the smoke in its current direction and it will not be an issue.

This may rank as the most misplaced comment on CaneInsider ever.Try posting on Carrier or Trane website next!

it's a real ****** situation..especially since it appears that most of these fires were arson. The dry conditions have only made things worse. The last couple of days in asheville have been much better. But the fires are still going and doesn't look like much rain for a while.

I live in Raleigh, and the air smells a little smoky for sure, but it's not going to have a significant impact on the players other than a little ash in their snot. I used to live out west where forest fires are common every late summer/fall, and it is often much worse out there. You can smell it, and if it lasts for weeks you get pretty sick of it, but it doesn't seriously impact you if you're not close enough to be in danger.

They arrested 2 guys up here in NE Tennessee and SW Virginia that started the majority of the fires. We desperately need some rain right now.

Another significant disadvantage for our guys. NCSU players are used to forest fires. Last week it was the bone-chilling cold. We are cursed.

It's not really funny. I live in Chattanooga and work in NW GA. It's horrible up here. It's hard to breathe if you're doing anything outside besides walking.

My original intent for this post was to maybe help out a family coming to the game that might have an asthmatic kid or a condition themselves but I forgot about those with the 5 year old mentality that camp out on here just waiting to pounce on a new post or poster, which is why I rarely post anything on here. There should be an a$$hle rating system added to keep tabs on who is the king a$$hle but on second thought, that would only provide encouragement. Breathing smoke day and night as a quadriplegic has not been a funny or enjoyable experience but go ahead and have your childish fun.

Know where you are posting. It's a football forum. In the context of young, trained athletes, it's a non-issue. For anyone else, your post is available to be read and heeded by anyone who finds value in it.
