Ahmad Moten (not injured)

1. Bell is awesome and if he comes back next year he will be one of the ~5 best OTs in America.

2. That Moten clip, holy **** that first step and explosion is insane. If he comes back next year he will be an All-America candidate

3. Miami is identifying, landing, and developing talent at a pretty insane clip right now. This is how it’s done to progress into one of the very top echelon type programs.

Bell and Moten are two examples of why you don't write off young players so quickly.
I have been a Bell defender since last year and still think once the dust settles he can be a 1st round pick BUT I was absolutely Motens biggest hater last offseason and man did he shut me up. Talk about the light coming on at the perfect time because he’s in for a nice NIL payday from us should he choose to come back.

He was a Great Dane puppy that needed time to get acclimated to his body and the position. He’s now on his way to making a lot of money one day. Out of our two tackles I’d bet on him to have the much higher ceiling . 61 has a very high ceiling at guard.

I never thought I’d see the day when guys with 3rd or 4th round grades like Bell and Moten (by my guesses) would return and not go pro. Two decades of Canes leaving early to get a jump on a second contract that usually never happened. Mesidor coming back and working his way intro the higher rounds, and Cam’s meteoric rise, must really have turned some heads. Plus the NIL of course.

When you can make as much or even more by staying and improving your draft stock, it’s a much easier decision. Especially when the money is guaranteed.

Folks just don’t wanna believe Bell is a helluva OT…small speed guy, power guy, it doesn’t matter…Bell can play is not the same guy as last year.
lol let’s not act like he was average last year. He kept Wards blind side clean last year. Ward was standing in the pocket and slow walking sideways for 10 seconds at times.

You pay top dollar to keep Moten out of the draft. Couldn’t find a better DT in the portal and he knows the system. A true Miami guy. We’ll be very dangerous next year on the line if we can keep him.
Agreed. Happy to eat crow about him. I wasn’t expecting him to be serviceable let alone arguably a difference maker.

Had to take my daughter to the ortho. Spoke to some people about college football players. Nothing to do with the canes but he said that a lot of pro football players are telling kids that have good nil money to stay in college football one more year unless they are a round one or two guy.

Not so much the money situation but just the entire experience as a whole.

The nfl isn’t all it’s made up to be when you’re not a star player on a good team. It’s not the same experience for 5th rounder on the bengals compared to a first rounder at the cowboys for example.

He told me that 5th round guys feel invisible at times and start questioning and fearing how much playing time is left in their future. It’s a huge struggle he said.

Some nfl facilities and support/ training staffs aren’t as good or supportive to the players as the best cfb teams.

Some of the training, diet and therapy is actually paid out of pocket by a lot of players to private trainers and therapy/sport science businesses because the support just isn’t there on some teams.

As he said “some college players haven’t realized that their senior year in football might be the happiest time they will ever have as a football player”. If you’re a 3rd stringer in the league you’re constantly worried about getting waived.

What has happened in Miami over the past 20 years is that the experience in Miami just hasn’t been as good as it’s been at other places including a non starter rookie making league minimum.

Average on field performance, revolving door coaches, coordinators, training staffs, mediocre facilities and nowhere near the money the sec bagmen were dropping.

At least getting drafted gets you the bragging rights as an nfl player and the fulfillment of a dream.
But could you be imagine being a starter at Miami right now with nil money and the hype? Shheeeeeet. I’d bee talking DiCaprio

Now idk if this is true and I know plenty of people on here now people that played in the league. Maybe they can corroborate or shoot it down.

I noticed that aside from one center (#52 Brockermeyer) and one DT (#11 Blay), the strength of the Canes team on both sides of the ball (OL/DL) were primarily players that have been recruited and developed by the coaching staffs. Bell was brought over from community college and Mesidor transferred but has been here for four years, so I included them both as players who were recruited as prospects and developed by Mirabal and JT into NFL players
