hes not worried about class but I doubt the plan is to miss spring practice at his new school willingly
Right but the post i replied to said he has missed enrolment dates at every school. So, unless miami or some other school gives him a waiver that ship has sailed.

the only thing I can think of is the university gave both barkate and Mensah until the hearing to enroll

committing before the hearing probably hurts public perception

if Mensah somehow doesn't get approved then it seems like barkate will come regardless, otherwise will have to find another / worse program in summer after missing all spring

Eh, I don’t think so…..
And he’d be a fool to honestly, with the options that he has in his final year.

I know someone who talked to Cam Ward directly, on the night of Early Signing day, and Cam told them he was going to Miami. I didn't divulge that info because things change, as they did. He waffled, and didn't commit until Jan 13th. I would have been roasted on here, even though the info came straight from the horse's mouth. It's impossible to be right all the time when the people in question don't even know what they're going to do. Having said all that, the folks telling us to calm down are right. Mensah will be a Cane.
Its not about believing that or not, but as you point out, a new day brings new info. As of today they are confident. Great. What about tomorrow? Or the 29th if the court does something unexpected? There is reason for concern because its not a done deal. Until it is, things can change. So lean in to believing its true, but people should have a sense of cautiousness, to not be completely let down if it goes sideways.

Im just trying to understand what is the end game for Duke. If he does not want to play there and it’s clear he is not returning, then what?

Come here even if Mensah doesn’t?
to get the ball thrown from who exactly?

You really think this guy is gonna go from getting the ball thrown from a potential nfl day one pick to a dude who’s never started?

Why because we’re the U?

For every person who has legitimate info, there's a clout chaser spewing stuff they have no clue about as if they know what they're talking about. That's the problem with early information.

And the people who have info have to be careful when and how they disclose it, if they want to be told anything ever again. People with no sources have no one to protect, so they just say whatever.

Every person who would know (D$, Pete, Cribby) - “let the process play out, Mensah will be at Miami”

Average CIS porster - “he isn’t a Cane yet. We’re clearly f*cked and we’re probably starting Judd”
100%, this place is full of idiots and they’re literally around every corner with a porst of their own, exposing them to be the idiot.

in reference to this......

Curt Cignetti was seen as building the team the right away and Deion Sanders was lambasted. lol
Similar to Miami n the portal at times to.
It’s just funny how narratives can be pushed.
Or the narrative that Cignetti had won everywhere he went “building programs” along the way? IUP is a PSAC powerhouse with like 4 or 5 D2 final 4 appearances before he ever got there. He went 14-9 at Elon. Then he took over a JMU team that went 14-1, 14-1, 9-3 the three years before he got there. He’s a very good coach but I’m a little tired of this best coach of all time nonsense. He brought in all his talent from JMU (12-13 guys) who had already been playing together for a couple years and then did a good job supplementing them with very good portal players. Kept that nucleus together for 2-3 years. Add in a little bit of luck (1 fumble in a season and very few injuries) and you win a natty.

THIS! Good for him and the Hoosiers! I got news for them - they ain't gonna be that lucky every season for the next decade. I would be astonished if they are back in the natty game next year. They were VERY lucky this year. They were very lucky in the natty game.

Again. they won and good for them, but they've been good for 5 minutes. We'll see what happens when instead of them playing their A++ game when they need it against a solid team, they'll play they're B- game and lose.

Like the UM law professor stated on the podcast, it's for deterrence. Duke had Riley Leonard poached and now Mensah. They're making it very clear for the next QB that signs an NIL deal with them...if you try to leave us, we will make you run through a minefield so think twice. Mensah will be at Miami.

And they’re already getting poached. Cignetti’s S&C guy already bounced to the SEC. See some of their guys portaling out. Rumor is Cooper is going pro. All of a sudden they’re down to 1 returning DB, a LB, and a DT. Offensively believe everyone except their OT, TE and the back shoulder receiver are gone. That’s a tough haul to hit 100% on the portal (see FSU). And can’t think they have guys coming up because they only played 2-3 subs all season on both sides of the ball. Do I expect a FSU collapse…..of course not. And with their schedule they have 5-6 guaranteed wins. I’d expect a 9-3 type year.

The stars aligned perfectly for them. Reminds me of the FSU team that Norvell assembled except that Cignetti is a superior coach and they were fortunate to keep Mendoza healthy all year. IU will be a top tier program but would be shocked if they went on a Bama style run in this college football landscape.
