After re-watching the tape, it's clear to me that beyond the need for the shuffling of WR burn, which freakin' stevie wonder can see by now, there are two adjustments that are musts for the rest of the season.

1) Mallory needs more snaps. I don't care how Lash does it, but that guy needs to be on the field at least 45 snaps a game, and most of those should be in sets with Jordan. He is too good, and too versatile. Figure it out Lash, because Mallory can play outside the numbers, as well as in line, and as we have seen, he's a man as the H-back. He and Jordan as a tandem are basically cover 2 destroyers. Watch the running game open up as well, as with both those hombres on the field, we'll see a whole lot less double invert with both safeties in the box. Mallory is going to be playing on Sundays and we're going to be watching the TV, and scratching our heads wondering, "how come that guy didn't have 35 catches a season in the Lashlee offense??"

2) We have good DE's, but Jafari Harvey is also someone who needs to somehow see the field more. And here's a thought: Just one time, on an obvious third and long passing down, kick phillips inside, with harvey and roche on the edges, and HH in the A gap. And then watch opposing OL coaches' sphincters start to pucker up a tad.

I was waiting for a quick slant to Mallory from the slot on their smaller corners for Pitt. Was there all game.

Love will as a receiver but I think he needs to step up a little in his blocking. We had a nice swing/screen to Knighton with Will out front and one defender and will whiffed, could have been a big play.

He's improved every year he's been here - including his blocking. Compare him as a FR to now, it's night and day.

He needs to come back for his Senior season and be the undisputed #1TE in this system. He has the potential to play for a long time in the NFL.

Yup. Needs to be option 1 next year.

I agree on both points. I wrote in another post we should implement formations with multiple TEs and RBs like the Ravens.

I would also try formations with Mallory, Brevin, and Hodges. All 3 are very athletic.

On Defense I would also move Phillips, Cam Williams, and even Roche inside on obvious passing downs. Nascar package.

Mallory needs to play more for the simple reason of getting attention by the defense. You do that (along with Jordan) and misdirections can work very well.

I agree with you about more Mallory even if Brevin is in...

he had his man beat against Clemson but King through an awful short ball that got picked off but he had his man beat by a step
Mallory got a lot of **** (for good reason) but I remember some convos with the legend @The Franchise and it’s like hey man, if this kid can fix the drops he could be unstoppable

Always getting open. Always a mismatch.

I agree Mallory needs to see the field more. Not only is he talented and deserving, but out WR's aren't winning one on ones, so lets get Mallory's size in there and his ability to win those matchups.

Interesting thought. I think that would be very effective.

I've been Will's biggest supporter on here, and I completely agree that he needs to become a focal point of the offense. Our WRs are trash, and that doesn't seem to be changing at all.

I was hopeful for Pope before the season, but he's just average at best. Payton gets hype from all the insiders but never makes a play. Wiggins can't catch COVID. Harley's just OK. People love Redding because his build makes them feel all warm and fuzzy, but he's done nothing to stand out either.

I love Key Smith, Mallory and Jordan. And get the RBs more involved in the throw game. Do that, and we can survive our trash WR play.

I didn’t count Mallory’s snaps at the game, but every time I looked for him he was in. Often he was lined out wide.

Maybe you want him to get more targets, but I thought he got quite a few snaps. Did somebody do an actual snap count??

Personally, after Brevin is back, even if it’s not a “2 tight end set“ I’d like to see him lined up as a wide receiver.

Biggest adjustments i would like to see. Less McCloud
Call me crazy but 2 TE,s and 2 running backs with Pope in slot. Could you imagine defending with Mallory and Knighton wide on one side and Jordon other side along with Pope in slot
PS: Our tight ends and backs by far our best recievers so why not use them more effectively in that role

Mallory doesn't look nearly 100% to me. After the first TD, he didn't even jump to celebrate. Just kinda shouldered some dudes on his way to the sideline. He's hurt.
