After landing UM offer, 4-star CB Royal plans fall visit

Agree, although he could’ve been a good rotation player down the line with his athleticism. Him transferring before the UF game makes 0 sense
Agree the timing is weird but if he’s scared off by frosh ... *shrugs*.

I do not believe he would have gotten time unless he took a major step up. It can happen though. DVD was a kid most had written off before his junior year.

Short version: Miami recruiting him hard. Keep telling him to "stop playing and commit". Kid is butt hurt because he had 26 other offers before Miami offered. Doesn't know if they will get a visit. Already took his Pitt OV. Still thinking about it. Says they offered out of state kids before him.

When asked about the game, he said he thought they played well but "folded at the end"

He also said that other than Miami there is no one else besides Pitt. Sounds like he needs "major love" from the staff.

Smh... The one thing this staff still hasn't figured out is you always offer the local kids first.

Even if you have no real interest initially, you still offer just in case because the targets you have higher on your board rarely ever work out in your favor.

Instead we're always chasing after pipe dreams that are not going to come here & then get left scrambling late having to circle back to local kids we passed up on who feel slighted & wanna stick it to us.

This sh*t is elementary level recruiting 101, you always recruit inside out, not outside in, start in your backyard then work your way out, you make every kid feel like they're a priority (even if they're not), keep an open line of communication & if/when the time comes you make it that much easier to work a flip because they feel you wanted'em all along even if you really didn't.

Agree 100%, but in this case: how late is too late? I've seen it discussed on here that we're penalized more for not offering early enough (which in some cases is true because we are local and should on average know more about these kids than any other P5 program).

Royal, however, was offered in the summer. Even when you account for early enrollment, that is like 5 months until early signing day. In this case 'too late' is an exaggeration when you additionally couple the fact that he is incredibly raw at cb.

And then you factor in local commits like Hodges (a steal) at cb, Francois who is a stud at either cb/safety, likely Restrepo (another steal and likely db), an athletic freak who is productive like Clarke at cb who is also Floridian, and it's a little difficult to criticize the staff. Plus we have another local guy we're communicating to in Balom, were communicating with Pough, stud Floridians in Tennison and Avantae that we were after (but likely not getting) and it further emphasizes that db recruiting criticism/efforts in state/locally is exaggerated. One out of state commit in Branch, happens to look really good as well, and is from a state that produces stud dbs like Texas produces qbs, and the favoring 'out of state' angle sounds stupid as well. The only pipe dream is Avantae Williams and even then we have Branch, Francois, Restrepo committed who can play safety and are in touch with another local guy like Balom.

Should the staff offer inside out like you said? Of course. Have they, however, really been neglecting the db position locally/in the state of Florida this year? No they have not.

Miami has had 2 years to recruit him and they just offered him when he plays at STA a very well recognized school. If he was out of state it’s a different story but Miami offered way too late imo

First he's barely played cb. Second, did you not read my post of all the guys we currently have committed who are local and or Floridian? Plus we are in contact with more. This is a stupid over exaggeration when you factor in my first point and the evidence of the second point. Third there is 5 months until early signing day. So it's not too late in itself. Fourth, the one out of state commitment we have has very good upside and from one of the best db producing states in the country.

Stop blaming the staff when taking into account my four points above. It's stupid.

When you had a two year time gap of watching somebody and wait until there’s less than a half a year left to finally put interest in him and offer that is called being late. What miami does is stupid we go chasing after dreams out of state that never come for example Keyshawn Lawrence and when they go somewhere else we scramble to find instate talent. In fact we are not relying on Florida players anymore as much look at the guys we got when manny arrived and the transfer portal guys. Only Kj Osborn was from Florida. Even now Flagg, Austin cave, Washington, height, Williams & branch all out of state. The guys who were going after now all out of state. We’re not just relying on Florida players anymore. He’s too talented at safety to be offered anyways

You're still not making sense when again (and again I am being very specific to db recruiting this year. You are just arguing a gigantic mess. It's impossible to get any points from what you say):

a) The guy has barely played db. He hadn't come close to earning an offer two years ago. Even if you look at his film, he looks kind of awkward playing db. All he is at the moment is an athlete who may come on this year.

b) We have 3 (counting Restrepo) guys committed who are local, another Floridian in Clarke. So again how are they neglecting locally/the state of Florida? Plus we have talked with Pough, talking with Balom, etc. We aren't just chasing out of state pipe dreams like Lawrence given our current verbals and the guys we have been supposedly in contact (I forgot Brian George as well). Where is this scrambling you're talking about? We have four-five guys committed and offered this athletic project 5 months before early signing day. That's not scrambling. He's just being difficult because now all these out of state programs come and offer anyone from the state of Florida. So he of course thinks we, with 4-5 commits already should have been on him like Pitt was (and their second rate commit list) long ago. Again, five months is more than enough and he's just being difficult. And you are falling for his emotional nonsense. Maybe he sees all our potential dbs committed (and/or young guys already playing) and also thinks it will be easier to make an impact at Pitt as well. He obviously wouldn't relay that out publicly for obvious reasons.

c) you said, "Even now Flagg, Austin cave, Washington, height, Williams & branch all out of state. The guys who were going after now all out of state. "

And? A lot of those guys can play. Flagg is the only commit I question from that group for pushing harder for Hyppolite earlier. That's it.

d) You said, "He's too talent at safety to be offered anyways" makes no sense.
