Advice to y’all in an era of mediocrity...Just enjoy the freakin’ game

That's the **** thing, I can't even enjoy most of the games bc the execution on offense is horrendous! Run up the middle on 1st & 2nd down, then all verts on 3rd, then punt on 4th...wash, rinse, repeat. There is no enjoyment in that at all. I could dig your point if we were playing decent football in all phases and just getting out talented bc we are building the roster...but that is not the case. We are getting Corched!!!

I have been tuning in to see the young guys play and see if anyone of them balls out, and provides hope for the future. I have waited to see J Wills at QB for pretty much the last 2/3rds of the season.

I said it last season in that for a 10 win season, that was the most painful season to watch and go through as a Canes fan when the team reached 10 wins.

Good points...There are different ways to lose...

It's my party. I'll fart, whine and moan if I want to. There's no reason on earth this program can't succeed at the highest levels. We just need an AD and Board of Trustees that is committed to the program. We haven't had that for decades now and until that changes, nothing will improve.

Nah, the OP isn't trying to tell anyone what to do. He's just letting us know that as much as he loves the Canes, he has resigned himself to the fact that the situation is what it is. There's no good reason to get upset, but there's always good reasons to continue being a die hard fan. If I could take you back to the canes of the 70s, you would understand exactly how he feels.

His mistake was in the title of his post. Nothing more.

I was there in the 70’s and it sucked. Hated losing then and hate it even more now. They were about to cancel the program then. If the school doesn’t want to return to winning then I’m good with cancelling it now. We know what we can be now and nothing less is acceptable. Make Miami Great Again!

Apparently, the BOT is committed to academics instead. And academics are sliding in the polls, too.

I cannot think of a greater indictment against those who are running the University of Miami.

OP is correct. Will play catch w boys after work instead of watching. May catch condensed version often they go to bed.

If I wanted to be happy with mediocrity, I'd have gone to UF or FSU.

So basically you're saying go support another team, or give up on college football entirely, right?

Oh bullsh!t. Get off your moral hobby horse. You can do both. Plenty of schools do. Please stop rationalizing for the idiots that have, for the last two decades, been expoiting our greatest achievements while at the same time doing pretty much nothing to return the program to excellence. The BOT and succession of AD's have enrobed themselves in incompetence, laziness and deceit to the program's enduring detriment.

Where did I say that you can't do both? The point is that this university has clearly sacrificed the football team for the purpose of focusing on academics, and they haven't even reaped positive academic results. I'm not rationalizing ****. They need to be replaced, preferably by people who care about football and what it brings to the table.

How exacrtly have they "sacrificed the football team'?

The abandonment of the Orange Bowl, substandard facilities for many years, the tolerance of Richt and our subpar records, refusal to pony up the cash to get top notch assistants, etc. etc. If they really cared about football things would have gone a lot differently.

I know college football has changed and a private school like us won’t dominate without those SEC boosters.

However, decisions like playing Rosier instead of Jarren and not getting an OC, take all the fun out of it. Just do the little things to make us hopeful ya know? You play Jarren and instantly this game has meaning

I’ve been around for a good portion of the ride, having gone to undergrad at Miami in the mid 70’s. It was a peak experience seeing that first Natty live. The last 15 years have been frustrating, I don’t like mediocrity and seeing the team underperform. However, in a measure of perspective, I will go to Yankee Stadium to cheer on my Canes with a little extra pride and pep in my step. My son is having a great freshman year at Miami in a rigorous course of study, and for fun joined the Band of the Hour, which has made his UM experience all the more enjoyable. He’s having a blast. It really isn’t all about wins/losses only. (But if Richt calls a run up the middle on 3rd and 5 he’s gonna hear about it from this alum 8 rows up in section 108) Let’s Go Canes!

Literally every word of your post is wrong.

They were evicted from the Orange Bowl, it didn't belong to them. They were actually willing to help pay for renovations but the County said no.

In the last five years we've built a state of the art IPF, built a new $15 million on a weight training, therapy and learning center for athletes, spent $7 million on a new turf field and new athetic dorms are part of a new $115 million resident area.

We were willing to give Diaiz $1.5 million to stay but he wanted to be a HC, gave Dugans a raise and title bump to keep FSU away and have shown a willingness to spend.

They've fired three coaches in 13 years and pay Richt $4 million a year.

And as far as tolerating Richt, he literally won 10 games, the coastal and went to the ACC Championship, literally last year.

The whole BOT and school doesn't care is total regurge. Tlhe problem is the half dozen mopes on here who want to fire coaches and blow everything up on a year to year or even game to game basis.

Don't believe me? Go read what they said about Diaz after the LSU game.
