Just find the right guy, it doesn't matter how long it takes. Got to imagine this would be a pretty sought after job. Making 800K-1M and getting to live in Miami seems like a sweet gig to me.

Maybe they're using the firm to conduct background checks, etc.

They aren't going to say a "group has been screening candidates behind the scenes"..... It has to be presented as the University is conducting the search..

My intuition is telling me it’s Jurich based on just that alone which means Jack ****. I bet that’s already basically done but they want it to appear it wasn’t in the works for any blow back on how quickly and also to not look like they were working behind James back.
If it were to be Jurich...We'd have hit a MFing Grand Slam the likes of which haven't been seen at UM since forever...

Don’t have any insider sauces, just a loyal UM fan for 20 years now. In reviewing all the info, I think the best approach would be a two headed monster approach in terms of the the UM athletic department. From 97-17’ Tom Jurich did an outstanding job as the AD of Louisville. I remember watching UL competing in the off brand C-USA on Thursday nights with Dave Ragone and Stefan Ledfors to their first signature win vs FSU in overtime in the rain in 03 to destroying an FSU team and having a Heisman winner in Lamar Jackson. Along the way he raised the profile of the women’s basketball team and men’s baseball team. He got “retired” for what? “Blue Chippin”(movie needs a remake today). He’s the one that got caught. It’s went on and it’s going on. Not a bad mark in my mind. I’d pair him with Alonzo in a created position that solely focuses on the development of the FB program. If Zo doesn’t agree, I’d look at Dan Morgan or Hernandez. With the NIL landscape and Miami already being a an Addidas school with the connections Tom made, for me, he’s A1 in terms of choice. After that, we can go all in on Mario. Mario is #1 until he tells us no. And we have to make it hard for him to say no. Tom Jurich is the guy for me.

Cant wait for people to go nuts that we didnt hire Jurich and hired someone else.

I hope that Diaz is fired regardless, but IMHO that will happen only if the new AD is in place in two weeks.

If they go beyond December Manny gets another year.

Unless Mario wants in, obviously: that deal could happen at any time.

That's exactly all it is....basically seeing if there is any dirt past or present on the candidates.

Yeah, that applies to coaches as well. Most of the time, schools don't need a search firm to get their coach. The AD and/or president typically has their sights on someone to target and then a top 3 list after that. Once that's done, THEN maybe they can use a search firm to faciltiate the process. You think LSU AD needed a search firm to get him to dial in to going after Riley?
