Accountability

I think JT4 is always going to JT4. I’ve known too many like him.

But I’ll gladly take him for the opening **** game, after that, we can do without him, I don’t care.

That's why you make Jt4 a leader...you give a kid like him the keys to lead drills and wr room by example....it will let him know he's special....it could turn all those past negatives into positives....tell him this is his last real chance to make the league...no time to slackoff....you gotta get your family too a better place...Willis became a different man once he became a leader.....some coaches let their ego get in the way...instead of doing everything possible to help both parties...it's about winning....it's worth it....Jt4 is elite!

No, not smart to take a chance on that, he did the opposite of earning the keys. Willis did his time and rehabbed his way back. He led by example; his play on the field.

If you read the article it stated: "designated leaders — primarily respected upperclassmen." Accountability is why you don't let him back. Ain't nobody got time for dat.

from an organizational standpoint it makes perfect sense to breakdown into smaller groups and assign "leaders" (or, if you prefer, "accountability czars"). Not enough coaches to supervise all the guys so have to delegate that responsibility to trusted upper classmen (who are also held accountable if their guys are not doing what they need to do). This is not meant to inspire. This is to maintain discipline and accountability through positive peer pressure. It makes perfectly good sense to me.
Accountabili-buddies.....nice

You have different leader types.....Jeff seems quiet....he can lead by example....your best players have to lead in some type of way bro....

Coaches self appointing leaders again. SMH

Leadership doesn’t work that way. LOL

Yes it does.

Responsibility accompanied by authority - works. It's not a damned popularity contest.

Works even better when one screws up - the entire group pays the price. Just like in a game or in a battle - one guy screws up or off - everyone's hurt by his actions.

And you want to talk about self-policing - and leading?

Just as our 2000/2001/2002 team members said - sometimes players didn't want to enter the locker room - where some hellish fights broke out to "encourage" a screwup, or one who wasn't meeting the output demanded.

Grooming leaders. This is the way it should've been. This is we dominated in the NFL b/c teams were drafting leaders. Now, we just need to make sure our practices are harder so the game b/c easier. I know the NCAA has changed some things, but that doesn't mean it has to be soft.

There was an update on what is currently going on with that situation on 247 site. NO DECISION has been made - Manny is still thinking about it. There were some thoughts laid out about where it may go though:

"Although some players would like to see him return, Thomas quit on his team last year and if he does return, he will have to pay the consequences. He will have to earn his way back to good graces with the team.

*** One thing Thomas will have to get sorted if he does return is making sure he attends all workouts on time, which he struggled with in the past especially the early morning workouts, which he was not a fan of.

*** Even if he does return to the team and pays the consequences in the off season, he could still be facing a potential suspension in missing the 2019 opener against Florida."

Again - JUST THOUGHTS that were shared. NO DECISION MADE. STILL UNDER CONSIDERATION. Guess we will see where it goes.

Man, this is great. Like when Art Kehoe wanted those Burger King shirts made for our players! "You guys want to have it your way!"

So this WASN'T going on before?

Man WTF was Richt doing?!

Letting guys like Thomas Brown, Gus Felder and Ron Dugans be the "dictators" of the locker room. Because they were young black men he assumed the players would just automatically respect them. Didn't happen. In fact it back fired to the point where it killed the team internally. All these leaks about coaches figting players and all...Glad Diaz is deciding to go another route.

Article says Martell can't play until 2020.

That is what the article says. I know some folks claimed that he was graduating in 2019, but that would be very hard to believe that he could graduate that early (that is some SERIOUS Bernie-Kosar-graduate-in-three-years-****).

Either way, he isn't coming for January enrollment, thus it gives him a bit more time to make a decision.

If the 2020 thing is true (and assuming he doesn't apply for or receive a waiver), it is strong evidence that our coaches do, in fact, expect both.

It's not about leadership. It's about self-policing.

The coaches are still the leaders. If anything, the senior players are "leading by example" or "mentoring".

He gone 😕

No person likes to be the one whose messing up.this way other players can help the ones who aren't putting the effort in or who aren't pulling they're weight.our great teams kept each other accountable seen a lot of fights back in the day especially if it cost a game.

The Team leader concept works simply because he is responsible for the action of his group. There is no favoritism. If a team member can't be controlled or has a problem that can't be solved they can go before the head coach and discuss the issue. In the end there is a unity among the group everyone including the Team leader is held accountable.

He's letting the players police the locker room, which is EXACTLY what you want, instead of having the HC & position Coaches micro-manage the locker room, which rarely ever works & usually results in fissures between the coaches & the players.

this.

and another point, for those who have never played AND coached: …..

coaches will NEVER know the nuances of what is actually happening in the locker room and inside the kids' heads as well as the players. I don't care who you are as a coach, the players always know more about the players than you do. that's why internally (player) managed locker rooms are always best. period.
