According to Paul Finebaum, Miami is a, “Third world program.”

A person shilling for a conference whose member states consistently, over generations, rank the lowest in educational attainment, health and well-being, child health, economic opportunity, adult literacy, and overall quality of life is the height of hypocrisy.

Finebaum is shook as he should be.

I think you give him to much credit.

He doesn't realize the Hurricane (see what I did) that's coming.

feinbum is a ******* moron and a gas-filled bag of sh*t. but the word racist is thrown around today like calling someone a dummy. and 99% mis-used. that is an incredibly incendiary term and an awful thing to be called. ive called fsu or nd or uf fans complete and utter scumbags among other things. what's that make me?

- If "racist" is equivalent to "dummy", it cannot be incendiary

You didn't state why you called them that. But I know why. Your argument is this:

{I am a diehard Miami football fan, therefore I call fsu, nd, and uf fans complete and utter scumbags among other things}

It's completely logical for a fan to feel that way. This is not ad hominem.

This wasn't a statement made regarding facilities or funding. This was a statement made based on perceived behavior of our fan base. His response is, "Its not surprising, it's Miami, they're a third-world program." When you're talking about the fans specifically, and you throw the words "third-world" around when the MAJORITY of Miami fans are not white... that's dangerous territory if you DON'T mean it the way it comes off.

I'm the last person to throw around the word racist or racism, but like I said previously, the UNDERTONES are definitely there, whether he meant them or not, thanks to the context of the conversation.

that's valid man. but there are many, many fanbases with many, many minority fans. he may just think the way miami fans act are like animals. and ...lol....uh yeah if you've been going to games as long as i have, i cannot disagree. so if he just hates miami as much as he does, and he just thinks we're generally a bunch of idiots who act like fools, he may have been coming from that angle.

again it's simply my opinion, not saying you specifically, that people jump way way too quickly at the racism angle these days. and in no way would i say it's "obvious" he was being a racist.

because they're from up north and people are just obnoxious pricks from up there (let's say that's how i feel). now ?

well, you missed my point entirely friend.

The only point you attempted to make is the term ‘racist’ is overused. It’s a valid point and one I agree with. However, you compared it to the term ‘dummy’ because it is overused, which is fine. But if it is so overused that it carries little weight, it can’t also be incendiary

You form the statement on your own this time and i’ll be happy to respond, friend

well thats relevant. your racist aunt and uncle said that in the 60s, so... lol
I'm sure most of the state of Florida (outside of what we consider South Florida) still has a VERY negative opinion of the City of Miami. And any dislike of the Canes' sports teams is only a very small part of the reason why.

lol come on man. really? let's just stick with the valid point you said i made.

in reality, being called a racist is a horrible, horrible thing to be accused of. you got the initial point, let's just end it there.

ok well you're sure of that, so...

Try any country in the Caucusus....they are all thrid world **** holes.

In fact, its where the term "caucasian" comes from.

You walked into that one. Painfully.

Be better.

Go Canes.
Sorry, they have never been referred to third world countries. Developing European nations? Yes. But not third world countries. I walked into nothing, I respect and agree with opinions almost always, but right now, you’re acting butt-hurt. Please stop, unpain yourself. I’m anot accusing you of anything, just disagreeing with your take. Map below from Wikipedia for your reference.

If you have never heard of the Caucuses as "third world", well...

1) you clearly have never been;

2) you clearly have never been outnof your area code

3) you really don't want to debate me on how world works

4) please do #3 anyways, I'm bored.

Ha!

Wow. I’m gonna take the higher road here. Wish you well.

Brother, I feel like you are coming from a good place and that you are simply trying to say that people are too quick to throw the term out there. And that's a legit take.

But you are assuming here that maybe Finebaum meant "3rd World" to describe our fan base as "a bunch of idiots who act like fools".

The problem with your assumption is that most of his show is SEC fans calling in complaining about what other SEC fans did.

- An LSU fan called in to the show and asked him about an Alabama fan putting his ******* on an passed out LSU fan and Finebaum's response was that Louisiana was a bad place to do something like that because of the legal system.

- An Auburn fan called in and complained about an Alabama fan poisoning the sacred campus tress. Finebaum shrugged. The actual guy who poisoned the trees called in and Finebaum spoke to him

- An Auburn fan called in about an Alabama fan who shot and killed an Auburn fan after Alabama lost the Iron Bowl

- A Georgia fan called in after a Florida fan punched his Georgia fan wife in the face after they lost. Finebaum did not flinch

- An Ole Miss fan called in after an Ole Miss student's jaw was broken from a sucker punch by an Alabama fan during a tailgate. Finebaum said "That's life in the SEC"

Those are 4 examples of at least 4,000. These call comprise a part of every show that he does.

And not once has he criticized a fan base, a city, or footprint of this country. But an alleged Miami fan pushed a band member for grabbing a female gets a response that "Miami is 3rd World?" That is in no way consistent with anything he has ever said. It's a weak assumption to make.

Is ****ting on the streets considered "third world"? Because that's all over in the place in several large cities that are highly regarded. I can't say I've heard of that being a big problem in Miami.

When everything is racist, nothing is. Genuine racism exists and needs to be addressed. Finding racism in every little comment just minimizes the real racism.

Le Batard today stated Finnebaum "apologized too much". ....and it was cringe worthy as he shouldnt have to do so.

YOUR UM ALUMNI.

Tru dat. However, racism often rears its ugly head in little snide comments, like this lollipop head’s. We all know about the racism in housing, job openings, pay rates, promotions, FEMA allocations, voter suppression, and on and on. But on a daily basis, how we treat each other, is the manifestation of the greater problem, and still needs to, and can be addressed on individual levels. This is one case. Worse, this guy has a tv and radio platform. Dismissing this as something insignificant, allows the problem to go on. I may be ignorant, but doesn’t Finebaum cast a vote for on some of the polls, selections and other things CFB? If so, how does his ignorance (If we can call it that) affect his choices?
