According to Paul Finebaum, Miami is a, “Third world program.”

Eh, I sort of relish the label. we will never be able to compete with the corporate model that now rules D1 football. Our only shot is guerrilla tactics, jungle evasion, insurgent strategies, and asymmetric kinetic fire. Whatever it takes. We are successful when we operate like Captain Benjamin Willard or Joseph Conrad's Marlow. Our spiritual home, our strategic rear if you will, the beautifully grotesque orange Bowl is long gone, but we still shall move like Ho Chi Minh, like the FARC, like the Selous Scouts of what I still call Rhodesia. We shall embrace our 3rd World character, and mush our sweaty jungle genitals into the corporate greed of the powers that be of college football. make them taste our lack of couth, our fetid tang, that is who we are, let us not run from this, embrace it Cane nation, you wild, freaky mother ****ers.

This.

I once saw a black dude wearing a leather jacket and a snake around his neck during a night game at the OB. We're different.

Here is how he described Harvey Updyke:

"
"The guy's an idiot," Finebaum quoted Barkley. "It's a finable offense. I'm not sure it's a jailable offense for the rest of the guy's life or for 10 or 20 years. Auburn is an amazing place, but we need to get over the tree thing."

Finebaum concluded that column by saying that sending Updyke to jail would be a mistake.

"Let's learn from Harvey Almorn Updyke Jr.'s mistake and allow this to be a teachable moment," he wrote. "I'm not suggesting President Obama invite Updyke and Gene Chizik to The White House for a beer summit.

"But throwing him in jail will only make some people feel better for a brief moment. I say enough of the attacks and the calls for jail time for vengeance to right the wrong. It is time to get past this human tragedy."

"

I wonder what ever could have caused him to use "third world" to describe Miami fans and program as opposed to Harvey Updyke.
What is he even talking about....thank goodness I limit my sports interest to just one team do I don't know what this Updyke business is.

What part of, "100% racist comment" are you confused by?

Calling Miami a third world program or whatever whats-his-retarded-nuts said on his radio program isn't actually what I would call rascist.

The term(s) (rascism, rascist, etc.) have been so loosely thrown about over the past few years, they essentially have zero credible meaning.

To be honest, almost now makes the accuser throwing out the terms seem less informed on pick-the-issue-of-outrage-at-this-moment.

Just my 2 cents (I'm known for being a shy wall flower type)

you are absolutely correct. 99% of the time people toss that incredibly incendiary word around, it's used incorrectly or they straight up don't know what it means. you are on the money.

It's more what he was "implying" in regards to us as fans & our program. Remember the caller and his (finebaum) response was in direct response to a comment about a Miami fan "attacking" the florida band director. His comments IMO were no different then what Wilbon got crucified for when Sean Taylor passed away, because he basically implied that Sean deserved what he got, because of where he was from. Finebaum was implying that because Miami (city, fan base, program) is full of minorities it's no different than a third world country where people **** near live like animals.

Ok. I didn't take any of that from his comments.

There are tons of dumpster/street fires/whatevers in ****hole thrid world as well.

When Finebum called Miami a "dumpster fire" program after Big *** Al got the boot, was that rascist?

Not picking a fight with you at all, I just personally believe this infantile, toddler temper tantrum society behavior of outrage has just no become a sad parody.

People watch wrasslin on TV right? Our entire cultural discourse has become one continuous epsiode of WWE.

For those of you that start threads , tweet the show , call the show or pay any attention to this guy you’re no better than the ignorant rednecks backs he stands on to make millions. He uses them and baits them , then sits back and watches the fire works.

He’s playing your asses the exact same as the embreeds you mock. He says this stupid mess because it will rustle your jimmies.

he literally knows nothing about football or x’s and o’s, he just a shock jock.

Ah the old trolling defense.

Oh no it is definitely racist. Everyone knows what he meant, including you.

It's always so funny to see people try and spin everything away from the title racist. If you can't see that his statement is at the very least racist dog whistle then you will never understand. Those hillbillies think that. Why do you think we were called thug U, or why they hate the gold chains and jewelry. We play it up and embrace it. But, stop being in denial. He would never say this about the SEC programs, and they are far more third world like then Miami.

It is racist. My aunt and uncle lived in Ft. Lauderdale back in the 60s when I went to UM (from New York). They would never visit me at school because of those "horrible" Cubans who had "ruined" MIami forever. They probably held the majority view back then.

I disagree. If he called the program a “Third rate program” or an “Insignificant program”, I would not call him a racist. “Third world” refers to poor, under developed, lacking infrastructure, and more often than not, non-white countries. Matter of fact, show me one country that is white Caucasian, that is referred to as a “Third world” country. His jab was at Miami’s significant populations from the former, populations of Hispanics, Haitians, et. al. Call a spade, a spade. He is racist. Majority of Alabamans are racist. Just like the gas in your windbag, you can only hide it for so long. Eventually, it’s gonna come out and stink up the air around you. His did. In fact, it is his apology that is insincere, something thrown around loosely, because that hits his pocketbook, his gag-worthy gig on tv. Just like I don’t buy that tv anchor in Oklahoma who compared her co-anchorman to a gorilla and then found out she was going to lose her job and the money, and did an Oscar-winning mea culpa. There is a severe need to discuss this issue in an honest way, and process it. All humans are taught different and varying prejudices, it cannot be helped. I was. What can be helped, is how you process it, and how you not allow it to be a tool for you to denigrate people not like you, that scratch your insecurities.

Do you see how the media talking heads love to talk about the turnover chain. They just go into a chant. When Miami is good it is great for ESPN. ESPN knows that most people hate Miami and that is great for ratings. Finebaum knows this too and fans the flames. ESPN loves their blue bloods but knows other blue bloods do not watch outside of their team except for............rooting against Miami.

Try any country in the Caucusus....they are all thrid world **** holes.

In fact, its where the term "caucasian" comes from.

You walked into that one. Painfully.

Be better.

Go Canes.

Harvey Updyke is the Alabama fan who got ****ed off after the Iron Bowl where Auburn returned the short FG for a touchdown and poisoned the trees that they toilet paper after every game.
